I have seen his full video, I wouldn't base what I am saying on just the contents of the trailer. Believe me, watching the full video made me feel much crappier
To be clear, he has never reached out or even attempted to give credit. Independent creations happen in magic for sure. However, I feel there is enough evidence to prove this is not the case here. But I want to be fair and will wait a bit to see if he wishes to state his side before posting that. Just now I seem to be emotional about this lol |

Sadly, this looks pretty much the same as Alex's.
The polite thing to do would be to reach out to the person who is selling their creation before yours.

If it was a case of independent invention, then there is a chance that the other person is completely unaware of this thread.
If you are interested in a possible resolution, I would just shoot him a PM, and very politely let him know about your concerns, without making any sort of accusations. It is possible that you might work things out, or get some sort of credit. Based on my own past experiences, you should mentally prepare yourself to be disappointed by the response. Otherwise, you may be in for some frustration and sleep loss. Nowadays, for these reasons, I usually just let things go. If I ever notice something - and I try not to - I rarely even contact the other person. But I am an amateur, and I do this stuff just for fun. As a Pro, trying to earn a living in these hard times, you may have a very different perspective. |

He was made aware of the situation the very next day after he released his version. Last week I also offered to have a Zoom meeting with him, he opened the message (on FB Messenger) but never replied.
I am honestly not interested in going on some crusade to get credit for my original idea from him, I'll accept that in this case it just is what it is. Like you said, one is anyway just likely to be disappointed and I can't afford to lose out on any beauty sleep |

Oh. That was almost two weeks ago. I feel pretty bad about what happened. If you want to take this further, you could always contact Penguin Magic. They are a very reputable magic dealer, and they would certainly follow up. That said, I have seen these crediting matters really blow up on the boards, resulting in bad outcomes for everyone involved. It is a tough call. I do not know what I would do if I were in your shoes.
