Thanks for the kind words guys. Glad a lot of you are enjoying the YouTube Channel. That’s exactly why I created it.
As a follow up I’ve reviewed Lucid Coin on my channel yesterday as part of the Craig & Ryland Magic Review Show. I go into detail about why this trick is so great. You can perform this anywhere. There are no clothing restrictions. Here’s the link if you want to watch the show. Thanks. https://youtu.be/uYkrQIiUa1I |

After reading this thread and watching some review videos, I have decided to pass. The reason is that this is designed for use with the coin provided which looks very fake. This could be good for misers dream on stage, that's it. I would never use this for close up or parlor, and I don't see any reason to not just use sleight of hand for stage.
For parlor, I use a glass tumbler where I can hide a dozen thin coins under the glass and hide nine thin coins in my hand and produce nine coins from nowhere, drop them visibly into the glass, then end by taking the glass with the other hand, showing the coins in it, and dumping a stream of a dozen coins into it without a single gimmick. Not Marc's best product, but not every trick is gonna be a home run. I love "Bang On" and I give him lots of respect as a magician/creator.

Passed as well. Looks bad to me for close up.

I'll hold out for the price drop...
I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

This coin effect would be GREAT for children's parties. Whether the coin looks real enough won't matter with children. Most may have not ever seen anything like it before and when you hand out the coins to them in the form of silver wrapped chocolate "coins" they will believe that is what you produced.
Take it further and write a number or shape on each wrapped chocolate coin and have a prize drawing for the winner to receive a whole bag of the coins or other prize agreed upon by the parents and have the guest of honor win. If the child is old enough to understand this effect- Have them choose a card or billet and force them to match their coin's number or shape and win the grand prize. Additional idea- Name the effect, The Winning Coin and build suspense. As you magically produce coin after coin, ask out loud, "Is this the winning coin?".
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

The coin looks "odd" for close up but would likely show well on stage

I am sure this can be easily made up with a real coin of your liking or even a coin shell .This coin production gimmick seems very similiar to Bob Solari's misers dream.

I am very happy with it. The appearance/disappearance is amazingly fast and clean. The method can be applied to other coins as well as long as they have certain charactristics other than silver coins.

(Other than the question regarding the necessity of wearing underwear, which is a deep gravity well of philosophical conundrum from which logic and reason cannot escape. READ: I was thoroughly entertained, great joke!) Entertaining kids has its advantages. Talk Magic interview with Marc Oberon ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZn0Ok2EPzQ )is really worth watching. Sometimes I question the way we magicians value the effects we buy. A lot of effort and R&D goes into these things and most creators are not successful. Oberon actually USES this! He's a seasoned pro in performance, creating and competition. I think context of performance is a fair discussion to have. But if you watch the interview above at about 34 min, the truth is this trick can be great even for walk-around if your context is right. At a restaurant, if you want someone's attention, produce and vanish a large coin like this. then see if you can follow it with anything else! I bet they keep talking about this effect! |

I was looking for something just like this and I purchased it without blinking knowing what it was. I am VERY satisfied with my purchase. But again, I am the ideal client for this item and not everyone will be as satisfied. But isn't that always the case? The item/gimmick is supplemented by video instruction. The instruction gives some pro ideas on using this in a show. This is some neat stuff! It even tips a second utility that the purchaser can build at home... and YES I think many people can make it. I'm not a shop guy so my limited shop knowledge is enough, I'm sure, to build the second device. I think it is within reach of many magicians. The productions are dreamy, but clear and instant... thus the name Lucid Coin. It has a quality unlike most productions which is ethereal. The technique for handling massive loads is worth the price of the trick alone. Oberon is a genius. He condensed the teaching for an entire Miser's Dream routine into 12 minutes repleat with unlimited killer productions and an unbeatable fifty coin payout when the routine hits its dreamy climactic jackpot! To me, THIS is Miser's Dream! |
