Just wanted to introduce myself..well I guess my shop really. Anyone in the mid-west I just opened a new shop in Sioux Falls SD. It also plays host to a small parlour theater. I have also been working on a web store as well. I would appreciate the support and visit my Facebook page, and if there is anything I can do please visit my online store as well. I am adding new product daily but carry most items. If I do not stock it in store I can usually drop ship it from a dealer.

I have been to Spellbound Magic and can highly recommend Travis not only as a business owner but a great magician as well.
I was there with my granddaughter and Travis took the time with both of us and answered all our questions. He really has her excited, not so easy to do with a 10 year old. He was so polite, knowledgeable, and friendly. |

Congratulations on your new venture! It's very exciting to see a new magic shop open for a change, especially during these trying times.
I like the clean look of the site, which really shows off the products verses being so cluttered that the effects disappear. Like Al Desmond said however, you really need to put your location front and center, along with your phone number (especially since you are asking folks to call you regarding hours). You may want to consider adding a "What's New" section, as that's where most folks go first after a new effect is getting a lot of buzz. Best of luck to you! I'm envious. I think it's most magician's secret fantasy to own a magic shop. You had the guts to try it, and I hope it goes really well for you.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Travis,
I would caution you that this site has some problems that make it look like a fraudulent site. At the bottom of each page it says "Call for store hours" but there is no phone number anywhere that I can see. Also at the bottom of each page there are three separate "Privacy Policy" links but there is no privacy policy. The top of the page says "Shipping Magic Anywhere in the USA" but there is no shipping policy or shipping costs anywhere on the site. If I ran across this site through a Google Search, I would not even consider placing an order. |

In the least, Travis has not followed common, necessary business planning, lack of phone numbers, location and other info on a website is just plain dumb.
I found an article about the shop from February 2020 ( https://www.argusleader.com/story/news/b......5848002/ ), which indicated Travis was hoping to open the shop in April 2020. And this on a Google search Spellbound Magic Shop & Theater 5.0 2 Google reviews Magic store in Sioux Falls, South Dakota Address: 5413 W 41st St, Sioux Falls, SD 57106 Hours: Closed ⋅ Opens 1PM Hours or services may differ Suggest an edit · Own this business? It seems like the website was launched prematurely (?) or the website designer really dropped the ball by not listing the address or phone number . To be fair, he does have the shop address and phone number on his shop's Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/spellbound605 5413 W 41st St, Sioux Falls, SD 57106-1382 (605) 653-8043 Travis, if you're reading this , obviously it would be a good idea to have your website designer update the website immediately to list the address and phone number of your shop ; also for the online shop you should have the shipping rates listed and other pertinent information so people can order online. As it is now I would have to agree with CardGuyMike's comment: "If I ran across this site through a Google Search, I would not even consider placing an order." I would also suggest you update your Magic Café profile to include your website , business email contact , and Facebook page for your shop, so anyone who clicks on your Profile can easily find your website. Good luck with the magic shop. Operating a brick & mortar shop these days is a challenge and I wish you the best. (I enjoy shopping at brick & mortar magic shops and I'm sorry that there are not very many B & M's left to visit. If I happen to travel to Sioux Falls, SD I'll drop by your shop.) |

Yes! The new shop is top notch -- beautifully appointed with an intimate magic theater, close up parlor area, wide range of effects and many more attractive features.
Good Wishes, Travis! Nat Quote:

As for the lack of information on a Google search they do not allow you to put specific information until Google confirms via snail mail invalidates your business. Google has informed me that their mailing is postponed due to Covid lack of employment.
As for the website I posted on here for magicians to see it just to inform them. I have not promoted it or advertised the website simply because it is under construction. It is still the base template and the domain has been purchased for no more than a week. It is continually being upgraded updated and modified. For those giving constructive criticism thank you as that is why I posted here. The online store is really for SEO purposes and I do not expect or plan to sell an excessive amount on there it is just for people to order when they primarily want digital downloads of which will be added later.. those who are current with most marketing streams no the website is equal if not lesser to a social media platform. Which is where I have been active most. Everything is about always moving, growing, and learning from your mistakes. If you take your faults to seriously then you might as well give up as you have already lost. If you have ever wanted to give something like this a shot I highly encourage it and if you would like to talk more about my process and reasoning behind my decisions I would be more than happy to have that discussion. Shoot me a text or give me a call 702.249.5900. #keepgrowing |

But something I've noticed is that most websites that are "under construction" make a note of that displayed at the top of the site : "Website under construction, please check back for updates" or something like that. Although for a commercial website there is really not any time when the site isn't being continually upgraded, updated, and modified. Even if it's under construction, adding the physical address of the shop and a phone number seems like a quick tweak that doesn't involve much effort. If the website is there primarily to promote the brick & mortar store then pointing potential customers to the physical address of the brick & mortar store would be a priority. On the other hand , you have a good point that many people are getting their information from social media (Facebook) , not looking at traditional websites , so if your time is limited, more activity on the Facebook page is probably the most productive use of your time. (BUT if that's the case then one more suggestion would be to add a link to your Facebook page on the website . A "Follow Us On Facebook" link is displayed on the websites of most businesses , also link to their Instagram, Twitter, YouTube Channel , etc. if any of those apply.) Congratulations on your new venture. We have a brick and mortar magic shop in the Los Angeles area. We used to have several, now there is just one that I know of. It's the Magic Apple in Studio City. They seem to be doing fine, but there are a LOT of magicians in the Los Angeles area. Nearly every time I am in there, I see someone "famous" in the magic world, like Max Maven, David Regal, Steve Valentine, etc. Hopefully you can find a niche that works for you. Perhaps having a show venue will help.
