I will have the opportunity to acquire a number of worn, matching morgans. What would be a fair market price for me to purchase each set of 4 with matching conditions and dates? I am thinking $60-80 per set of 4. Sound reasonable? Not from a magician, just from a friend who needs to divest due to lack of work.

I’ve been on the lookout for something like this and $60 seems low and $80 would be a bargain. I stand to be corrected, I am not an authority.

Thanks. My friend is going to offer me some before selling them to someone for melt value, and wants to give me a decent price before he gets rid of them. Since silver is so expensive now, I probably won't be able to get them as inexpensive as I would have liked, but he will be fair with me. We looked up the cost of the silver of one coin and it's 20.77. So, I think he will likely offer them to me a bit lower, but not by much. At least I will be able to get them matched.

$20.77 sounds about right for a full coin, A worn coin could weight less, you should weight few of the worn coins and get an average, then you will have aprox the melt price. 1gr is $.88, then price them accordingly. I will get a set from you

Assuming there are no key dates that have collector value, that's in the ball park.
I use this site to check current melt vs collector value. Http://www.coinflation.com |

Several sets were made and sold as soon as posted. There are two sets left, advertised elsewhere on the Café, and other social media sites. Here is the Café link for the last two sets:

Beautiful work should be accompanied by beautiful coins. Your local coin shop should be able to supply you with some very good coins in the $40-50 range. Also try some peace dollars. I find them far more attractive, and better prices for good specimens. |

Thank you. I actually rarely work with dollars as they are really too big for my hands to feel comfortable in all but a few routines. The coins belonged to a friend who was selling his collection of circulated silver coins, and consented for me to make up some sets for magicians. I priced the bulk silver at 20.77, and with the intrinsic value of the coin itself he priced them at $25 each. We made several sets, and only one set of peace dollars is left. The rest of his coins were brought to someone who bought his entire collection.

That link is not working would that mean that they are all gone?
Magic is all around us we just have to be willing to see it.
