Incredible. I've been a huge fan of Boris Wild ever since I met him and he gave me a Boris Wild deck. He even sent me, in the post, some of his personal stock of transfers so I could make my own decks. Such a generous guy.

True! Not only a great ACAAN, but what a charming and funny routine. Thanks for the link Mats.

That was really great! Direct and to the point, with a wonderful use of Penn's voiceover.

Recent performances on Fool Us by pros like Asi Wind and Boris Wild have been on another level. This looked as clean as it gets. I wonder if he will release it.

I just love how professional magicians are rethinking their acts and adding an extra level to their performance. Be it an emotional level (think Marc Spelmann in BGT) or a humorous level as in Wild's act. I just hope some not so creative magicians will not be copying these personal approaches. |

I was so astounded and fooled on first seeing it, I have to thank Mats for reposting it. This performance was for BOTH a general audience and magicians alike. An ACAAN where the spectator(s) are magicians and do almost all of the mixing themselves? hubba hubba! I'm a big fan of Boris (his marked deck imho is the best on the market), but I do not know the brand name of this particular trick if he has released it. Anybody know? Lynn

Mr. Wild produced a box of cards, stating: "So, it's probably better if we use a brand new deck of cards, that come straight from the factory."
Teller selected one. Mr. Wild opened it, without breaking its seal!, & did a face-up spread, without Jokers. |

Without the jokers and without advertizing cards.
So the deck is "prepared". That's all you can know from the video. It is impossible to see what in reallity happened. The Penn é Teller serie sis famous for changing camera angles at critical moments. |

Penn & Teller know cards, if Boris brought in a un-cello'd deck with no Jokers or ad cards, then there's no point in going through the motions of having it in a fresh brick to begin with, and I doubt very much that Boris Wild would have overlooked that fact. Edit to add: Note that even if it had been a sealed deck with jokers and ad cards does not in any way mean it isn't a prepared deck anyhow |

It's not 'bout us, as we all know, it is all about the spectators we perform for. |

But watching it again just to satisfy my curiosity: 1- Boris pulls a blue deck from his pocket and fake-Penn's voice over remarks about how it's an unsealed deck and must be prepared. 2- Boris cracks open a brick and dumps the decks on the table. Here it looks to me like there's cellophane, but there's definitely a seal. 3- Without seeing either the seal or the cellophane get broken, Boris pulls the cards out of the case. 4 - Boris spreads the cards to show NDO #3 isn't possible without breaking the seal, but it happens in the video. And given how shiny the decks were when dumped, I think there was cellophane as well. If they edited that part down for brevity, they probably edited the removal of jokers and ad cards as well. I really don't see why someone with Boris Wild's talent and experience would go through all the trouble of proving to Penn & Teller that it was a brand new deck, and then make it obvious that it was not a new deck in the most obvious way. You'd probably have to ask Boris, or anyone who was there for the live taping, but my money would be on editing out what someone thought was the boring and unimportant parts. |
