I am looking for suggestions for some kind of storage/display case for my collection of fanning decks.
In my collection I have decks like a Cardini Peau Doux Deck, a Cardini Park Avenue Deck, a couple of Unique Studio Super Fanning Decks, Abbott Zinab Deck, Abbott ZBB Deck, and assorted other fanning decks (e.g. Harry Anderson Fanning Deck, Magic Christian Piatnik Fanning Decks).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Magically yours,

Good question. Displays typically consist of a wooden case with shelves and a glass in front to protect the cards. Seems to me it would be nice to figure out a way to display fans of cards. Just showing the cases is sort of boring. I'm sure there are spring clips available that would squeeze the cards tightly enough to maintain a fan but not so tightly as to harm them. I think it could be a beautiful display. If I see something that might work, I'll let you know.

Thanks for your suggestions, Tortuga.
As for displaying the fans of cards, I would be more inclined to create a framed acid-free poster collage of the fans that could be displayed on the wall next to, say, a glass cabinet of the boxed decks. That way I could also show both the clockwise and counter-clockwise fans to show the contrasting designs as seen in this jpeg that In posted on this link on the IBM Ring !03 facebook page:

Another option might be to have a few horizontal but slightly tilted shelves lined with close-up pad felt where the decks could be fanned and placed.

BTW, I assume you have a Joe Cossari Fanning Deck? I still have mine from way back.

This link should take you to the most unusual fanning deck in my collection--a deck with cards shaped like bowling pins!

Very cool collection. The bowling pin cards look weird when squared, but awesome when in a fanned condition. Very neat indeed.
