Magnetic flippers can also be used with shimmed expanded shells so that they can be lightly tossed as one coin without the risk of the shell coming loose.
Also FYI if you are going to convert a band type to elastic thread or need to replace a band, double sided carpet tape works better then glue for holding the pieces, lasts for a long time and easier to remove if you need to make a repair or change the band/elastic. |

I've gone back to using super-glue as repairs will be far less frequent. On the shimmed shell -- that's the idea of the OxF set, which still allows the flipper to fall out of the shell or the shell to be lifted off as you normally would do. That's not always the case though -- if the balance between the two isn't right, the magnetic flipper will "lock" to the shell -- won't fall out, shell can't be lifted off, etc. That opens other options, but something to be aware of. For this reason the magnetic flipper and shimmed shell of the Triception set isn't well suited as an "OxF" combination for the Oxyclean routine. |

Is carpet tape really thinner than regular (Scotch) double-sided tape? Enough to make difference?

Carpet tape is sturdier and lasts longer..I believe Lassen uses carpet tape, that is what is in a couple of Lassen items I have. Either one is better than glue in my opinion..glue is hard to get out if you need to.

I was going to mention that. I can not tell you how many times I have pull out a @#$%%&* or )^%@^~## coin, only to discover that the rubber was mush. "What already"? "Didn't I just changed this"? I am going to use this for ALL of my coins. I will use white tack to pin the thread in place. It's cheaper and more available. OH, and that cigarette through quarter, now I can use that with this method. Thank you again! |

Which is harder to rethread with elastic: the standard coin or the gravity coin?
