I got distracted by the pretty videos and forgot to share my experiences/preferences with the Faro.
1.) Unshuffled, getting into stacks, some one-off tricks (Bannon, DMF, blanking on names now but for example), doing mirror stack work (based on some ideas from Asi Wind's Paperwork, if am remembering correctly) 2.) 90's, Gerry Griffin and then a lot of practice 3.) I do. It's always in the hands and rationalized (not always outloud, silent scripts are amazing) "because I'm rubbish as shuffling while standing up, I just sort of jam the cards together" |

Exactly! It's almost like you know a ton about this so things it took me years to figure out are things you just know.
You should write a book! BTW, and I'll say it again, I'm totally picking up your books as soon as my work bonus comes in, quite excited for them. |

MC Mirak, Thanks. Well, it's a pretty good time right now to read and practice. And perhaps master that tabled faro?

Mirror stack is great. And I think we could all do with a lot more tabled faro practice.

I enjoyed playing with the mirror stack ideas in Mnemonica but none of the mirror stack routines found their way into my working repertoire. As with everything Tamariz makes it a lot of fun and very entertaining though.
Unshuffled mentioned again above. Such a great routine. I always thought it would be good to do with images printed on the side, rather than words. Would open up some cool possibilities and visuals. Maybe it's been done and I missed it. For anyone interested, from yesterday Vanishing Inc. has the project mentioned in the first post, Faro Fundamentals, available on their site. https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic-......booklet/ "I honestly loved reading this, and wished I'd had it in my hot little hands twenty years ago. It would have saved me so much time and energy trying to figure out even a fraction of this on my own." - Jeremy Griffith

Congratulations, Greg!
Great book. If you know what the four letters f-a-r-o spell, then you should own this book. Don't miss it.

Good advice, Greg! As I think I've mentioned, I'm going to be picking up your books in a couple of weeks or so but I'll start practicing in the meantime.
There aren't a lot of mirror stack effects I like but Ben Blau (Sophisthree from Asymptotes for example) and Asi Wind (in his Paperwork release) have some that I really like. |

Get the Elmsley PDFs or the books if you can afford them. One of the best investments that I have ever made. Amazing work on the Faro shuffle from a mathematical master. Plus you can meet Penelope

I'm a fan of Elmsley's work. There are a bunch of great sources for information about the faro. One of the reasons I began this project was to demystify the move for anyone previously too daunted to learn it, by bringing much of the most helpful and interesting information together in one resource.

It’s for one person (although it could be adapted for more), and is totally impromptu. It’s a similar triple-coincidence type of routine. Happy new year! Ben
