Intriguing but I don’t like the “multiply by 2” approach. What’s the justification for that other than that’s how the trick works!

Hi Gavin
Thanks for taking the time to make your video review. Very professional presentation. But I have to say I totally disagree with your verdict. As afknight has already commented, the "multiply by 2" is a problem.. 5 minutes into your review you say this is not great but is not too big of a problem either. Sorry - in my opinion this is absolutely terrible. It makes the whole "effect" a complete waste of time and money. The effect is not ACAAN. It is - choose a card, generate a number using a very obvious formula, and the card will be at that number. The cards must be counted face down - because otherwise the pattern would be revealed - another massive clue. Ok there are four of each rank - so there needs to be a way to make it work for four different suits. This is not hard. Anyone with basic maths skills could work out the method in about 2 minutes. (Well, I did anyway) I think you have been way too kind in your review. Normally kindness is a good quality. But in magic, there are too many like this that are basically pointless. There are also much better, easy versions of ACAAN. This should be called THE ACAAN THAT IS EASILY EXPLAINED AND WILL FOOL NOBODY It would be a terrible way to spend $10. And if you want a deck set up for one effect there are much better ones out there. OK, that's my opinion. I feel better now! Please keep doing your reviews! Best Nick |

Completely agree with Nikodemus here. This is utter garbage that I can't imagine fooling literally anyone with a brain. Zero points from me, or a big fat F.

Hey guys, I appreciate the feedback!
I personally have performed this to laymen a few times since purchasing it and it's gotten good reactions. I think that you guys might be thinking too much like magicians here. For my presentation, I have the spectator think of any playing card. Then I tell them to get a random number as well. My patter is "So, I don't know, let's take the value of the card and multiply it by two so we now have both a playing card and a number". I then reiterate how they could have thought of any card and the number would be different. Then, I reiterate how my prediction deck has been sitting on the table the whole time I then ask them to name out loud the playing card and the "random" number. Then perform the trick as seen with the one deck. So far it has gotten good reactions and the couple of times I've overheard the spectator retell the trick, they never mentioned the multiply by 2 part. When remembering the trick they've just glossed over it and said they were thinking of a card and a number and that card was at the exact number they were thinking! I can see how it wouldn't fool a magician but for laymen I think it's a great easy ACAAN-type effect based on my experience with it. I have done Paul and Wilson's YAMFACAAN but I was never a huge fan of it. Open to looking at other easy ACAANs but doesn't get easier than this one. Again, appreciate the feedback on my review videos and I do read all the comments and feedback for them.
