Hello. New here. How’s everybody doing?
I bought this brass mental die set on Amazon. But I didn’t know it was from a Chinese store. Most time this isn’t a huge problem, but in this case the directions I received were written in very poor English and the instructional video was all in Chinese. So I don’t know if I’m missing something, or if this is a poorly made item. I’m leaning towards poorly made, because if you look at the second picture, you can see the gimmick cause scratching on the even numbered sides of the die, but it doesn’t hold the odd number sides still. So I can never tell for sure whether the odd number is on top or bottom. Am I missing something to this trick? Is there some special maneuver I need to do? Or do you think I got a poorly made set? Any help would be appreciated. Pictures below: This is what was advertised: This how my die looks: |

Hi everybody!
Quick update. Since no one could really help me, due to not actually being able to see the trick and thereby not really being able to correctly find the issue. I bought another mental dice set from magictricks.com It was about twice the price, but it actually works. Comparing the two, the gimmick for determining which number is on top was not flat against the top of the lid. The welding bowed out, which seems to be the issue and why it was leaving marks on the dice. You could still guess which side the die was lying on, but the gimmick couldn’t hold the die still when it needed to. So if you want a cheap trick that is still impressive at guessing which numbers the die shows without looking inside the box. The cheaper version is still useful. But if want the other half of the trick, apparently that costs more. XD Thanks everyone who look at the topic. I appreciate it. 👍 |
