The city I live in is small but cosmopolitan (that means it has a monthly sex quiz). Having 2 universities, it attracts students from all over the world. We also regularly host international events. At this moment, we are hosting a volleyball tournament attended by teams from 16 different countries. The other night, I ran into the Italian team, and I do not speak much Italian. Since the Café has contributors worldwide, I was hoping to compile a phrasebook, in all available languages, with pronunciation notes as required. Who can tell me how to say:

I am a magician.
Let me show you something.
Pick a card.
Here is your card.
It has changed (colour).
(I) say the magic word.
The cup is empty.
The ball is under this cup.
Would you like to see more?
Put some money in the hat, please.
My medication makes me radioactive.

That should cover any situation I may encounter.

If I was visiting another country, I might take the trouble to learn the language, but just living here I would have to pick up French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, Korean, Swedish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai, Russian, Cameroonian,... just to keep up with the tourists.

Your help is appreciated.

I am a magician--Yo soy un magico
Here is your card (this is your card)--Este es tu tarjeta.
Take a card--Tome una tarjeta
Let me show you something--Déjeme demostrarle algo

Now remember, j=h.
I'm too lazy to do anything else.

Years (and years) ago, I acquired a short English / French, French / English Magic Dictionary called something like "Petit Lexique Magique". I've no idea where I got it, but it has proven useful over the years, both in trips to French magic dealers and when purchasing items from France.

Sono un prestigiatore
Vorrei mostrarti [mostrarvi] qualcosa
Prendi una carta
Ecco la tua carta
ha cambiato colore
Dico la parola magica
la tazza è vuota
la pallina è sotto la tazza
Desìderi [desiderate] vedere ancora qualcosa

You have to use the variant into brackets addressing to more than 1 person.
Remember italian vocals have a simple and clear sound: a, e, i, o, you have to be prononciated without modifying the position of tongue and lips in doing it (try to sing "oooooo" without closing in "u"); otherwise, your italian will be impossible to understand to italian people. Pay attention to the accent on I of "desìderi" (it must sound a bit like "delivery"and not like "the query").
A good idea is to ask some Italian to read these phrases for you.
