It helps to know where the cards start in this process.
To begin, if they are comming in at the same time, and it's the performer who inserts the cards... a classic pass can do wonders.

Which do you want; the best or the easiest? Personally, I use a double under cut. Simple and direct.

Hi Pete,
You can alter Marlo's "One-cut, Double-control" (The Hierophant, No. 2, Winter 1969, pp. 72-73) to bring one selection to the top and one to the bottom by keeping a break under the first selection, and above the second. Both selections are made via the spectator peek. If you're interested in more details and don't have that issue of The Hierophant, drop me a PM. |

If they go in together catch a break between them and do a pass.

As Hidu Shuffle is native shuffling for Japanese, I will do as below.
While Hindu Shuffling, I receive the first selection on top of the left hand packet and continue shuffling but stealing the selection (+ a few cards below it) and control the slection to the top. When I start second shuffling, I run the top card and do the same as the first handling to control the second selection to the top. Thus two cards are controled to top and bottom. Hideo Kato |

HI,
I also will go with Meilechl if both cards go together. If not, you can allow each spectator to return their cards into the deck at different positions (having a fan). As you close the fan and square, do the diagonal insertion of the two cards and obtain a sep above the lower card and below the upper cards with the pinki and third fingers respectively pushing down and up with them respectively. Now you can do a real triple cut to the table: first block od cards to the table, the middle block on this and the last one at the top. Now both selections are at the top and bottom. Regards |

Bring the first selection to the top by your favorite method: Pass, double undercut, side steal etc. Have them select another card and insert it into the deck. Get a break below the card and do a Kelly Bottom Replacement. I would follow that by a Jay Ose false cut on the table and you're done. You could reveal the two cards by just tossing the deck in the LH to the RH holding back the top and bottom cards and it looks like you pulled them out of the deck.

Pinky break, and double undercut? or is that TOO simple?

If the two selected cards are placed into the center of the deck. Get a break between them...
Then do a pass or do a double cut. One card will go to the top and the other to the bottom...

Moving ahead from the case where the cards are replaced and the pass used, as described in the first post on the thread, let's consider the situation where the cards are replaced into an in the hands spread.
One could use the Hofzinser spread control to pull the cards down to the bottom of the pack, then a color change or side slip to move just one card to the top. This approach needs some direction to motivate the card move.

Have the first card returned in the middle of an overhand shuffle, injog the next card and shuffle off.
Pick up a break at the injog and shuffle off, bringing the first selection to the top. Do another overhand shuffle running the top(selection)card to the bottom, and have the second selection replaced in the middle of the shuffle. Injog the next card (above the replaced second selection) and finish the shuffle, leaving the first selection on the bottom and the second selection in the center with the card above it injogged. Last shuffle: pick up a break under the injog, milk build shuffle the top stock with the bottom card of the deck, leaving the first selection on the bottom, and shuffle off to the break, throwing the balance of the stock to the top. This leaves the first selection on the bottom and the second selection on the top, in the course of a couple of innocent-looking overhand shuffles. Takes about thirty seconds and appears quite casual. Or, have the two replaced together and do a pass! Best, PSC P.S. Come on, Pete...

After youve used one of these methods then you can do as many faros or riffle shuffles as you want!

A lot of good answers for "the best" has been given, so I wont even go down that road. Instead, I'll give "the easiest" a try.
I'd control them both to the top, then double undercut top card to the bottom. |

The easiest method I know if from a spectator peek. Riffle slowly for the first selection, keeping it in the bottom 3rd of the deck. After it is peeked, take a 4th finger break ABOVE it. Continue riffling for a second selection, take a 3rd finger break BELOW it. Lower the deck, cut all the cards above the 3rd finger break to the table, cut all the cards above the 4th finger break onto the tabled packet, drop the remainder on top. The 2nd selection is on the bottom, the first is on the top.

I still like the overhand shuffle lift control. (RRTCM p. 117) It really gives the impression that the cards are lost in different locations in the deck. And it is easy !

I'll also go with the double cut. If you can do the Pass well, do it.

Control them both to the top, get a break under the top one, and do that double-undercut-to-bottom thingy.
I'm sure there are easier ways. |
