I wasn't sure where to put this question but as it involves a mercury card fold I've put it here.
I was wondering which mystery box people prefer to use these days ie the good old John Kennedy Mystery box....(out of interest does anyone still use this with all the new mystery boxes out) or one of the many transparent boxes such as the Vision box, mystery solves, clarity box etc ? |

I still use the old Kennedy Mystery Box, performed it over 100s of times with great success, works very well.

Like so many, I've spent a lot of time and money on the "best" box which is empty after the spectator gets the card.
But once the card comes back into play, all the focus is on the card and the box is not that important any more. Think Tommy Wonder or Toibox. Unless you have great patter or reason for such a box, a simple box with a hinged top, Altoids tin, etc does a great job. The Mystery Box is great, but I feel the card looks "thin" when you look down into it. I prefer the ones with what looks more like the folded card. Still, it doesn't mean I won't be tempted to get the next greatest one. |

For "predictions" I use a clear box. Everyone can see the predection all the time and it is logic.
For playing cards however, I use the old Kennedy box. It is NOT logic to do it with a clear box. An object cannot be at two different places at the same time. (apart from the quantum world) I have also an original ringbox that Jos made for me. I don't use it. I keep it as a relic. Later a man from Japan made several according the instructions from Tommy. |

Just a couple of thoughts on this. First, you have to decide what the effect is. Is the effect that you purport to demonstrate that the card was in the box all along? Then if that is so, it makes sense for it to be opaque. But if your effect is an invisible transfer, causing the card to travel to the box, then having it clearly empty vis-Ã -vis a transparent box would make sense.
It's never crowded on the extra mile....

I used the original Kennedy Mystery Box for several years in table hopping and even strolling gigs. I got rid of it when I switched to Phoenix Brand cards (rather than making a DIY gimmick). Once "ToiBox" was re-released thru Penguin, I got it and have not even entertained the idea of anything else. I feel it not only raised the bar but it raised it so much, it is likely nothing will pass it. I am a convert (and a huge Jonathan Kamm fan) but I do not say this out of bias, I truly believe it is the perfect "card to box". "Organic" (<- I hate that word but it really is in this case) and very "non magic prop looking".

And what, a good gift option is a mysterious box. Or a surprise box. But pavda, when you send such gifts to friends and acquaintances, it may very well be that the surprise is not always pleasant. But the fact that no one knows what surprise is in the box adds intrigue and unpredictability.

Gifts such as mysterious boxes or as they are also called a surprise package are now popular and unpredictability is very original in its way. But what to do if such a gift does not suit you at all? Is it possible to return the box or exchange it for another? Or you can just give the box to a friend who will definitely like it.

These are very interesting options - to receive a virtual gift in the current conditions, I think that it will be pleasant to everyone. A lot of imagination is not needed to come up with exactly what such a gift will be. If this is a gift for a girl, then, of course, you should choose more carefully. Well, do not forget about the secret boxes online www.themysterybox.org unexpectedly receiving a surprise parcel will be a pleasant surprise for many.

And I did not know anything about such gift options as boxes with surprises or mysterious boxes. Interested as an option for gifts to friends and acquaintances on not very significant holidays. This is unexpected and pleasant, I think for many it will be like this to receive a box with a surprise for any holiday.

If you love making gifts, then you should, of course, think about how to present your gift correctly. It's no secret that many people love surprise gifts. It is both original and unpredictable. Of course, it is better that the gift is also desirable and necessary. For example, a gift bank card with money is a good gift option.
