Love this book and was so happy to finally get a copy, after jumping on the bandwagon late with Jawdropper's Two and And Finally...
My recent favorite effect from the Harry Lorayne catalog, that you can be doing today, is "That's The Truth" on page 103. Such a unique card effect that has played very well with my audience! I had done other effects using this same principle but nothing tops Harry's plot here. FWIW I typically eschew the lie-detector plot and run with a plot more akin to Tally-Ho Spellcheck; so the cards have security chips in them like our credit cards and can be programmed like a computer etc. So many gems in all these books! Blown Further Away is also a great addition to a fantastic trick that I previously so infrequently did because of the full-deck stack required! |

I have a soft spot in my heart for both, as I'm from Buffalo and was at the Forks many times, and also saw Matt's son Charlie perform at Schuliens on a trip to Chicago in 1972. But I never saw Eddie perform, since I wasn't back in Buffalo until after he had died. |

I never saw Matt perform, although Charlie was very good. I have no way to compare Eddie to Matt. I feel their approaches were similar.

Greatest Card Handler on pg 216 is excellent.
A great middle effect to follow a 4 ace opener with a perfect applause cue. |

Saw Eddie many times in the early 70s, perhaps past his prime, but still really good. He was at his best at the bar with 10 people and the kind of challenging byplay that was normal and allowed in those days. He was intimidating and charming at the same time--a character. Played off the audience not wanting to look dumb, but not in an embarrassing way---like my uncles from the same neighborhood. The first time I saw him do Flying Eagles was amazing. If you know his routine, you know he changed the method and the number of coins during the routine, staying one step ahead. For me, I always trust bar magician material: Fechter, Eason, Sheets, York, Haydn, Norman. It's been thought out, it's not a pipe dream, it's fun.
