How about putting the base on locking casters? It will give it mobility and also increase height so audience can have a clear view underneath.

Hi everyone,

How many of those who expressed interest are interested in the surrounded version of the unit? The reason I ask is that I've currently designed three different versions all with something a little different.

Release will probably be September if any.

Cheers,

Mike

The more venues / circumstances it can be worked in, the more likely I am to invest in an illusion / prop.

I agree with Donald. If there is anything you can do to IMPROVE the effect, go for it, as more people are likely to buy it. Good luck!

The Seemingly Impromptu Base © – Design by Mike Rogers June 2004

- - - UPDATE AS OF 24 JUNE 2004 - - -

Hi everyone,

I have received an overwhelming response to my new base design, The Seemingly Impromptu Base © . I’ve been working on the effect for nearly two months now and it’s gone through some amazing changes since my last update. At current there is 3 versions of the design all with varying qualities.

The latest version is a slightly larger unit but allows for a possible load of 1 all the way up to 6, depending a little on size.

- However the standing platform is ˝ to 1 inch in thickness. It’s REAL THIN.

Breakdown and transportation of this unit will still be simple but may take a little longer. No longer than 5 minutes though. It is perhaps the most deceptive of all the current versions.

Builder and personal enquiries are most welcome through the Private Message System on the Café.

Cheers,

Mike

Yea, is there any chance of a picture of one of the prototypes? I'd be VERY interested as I am designing a new stage illusion that requires a deceptive base!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the new interest in my base design. It's gone through many changes since I first came up with the concept however I'm still not happy with it.

I'm currently in Japan and will be here until January so it's a little difficult without constant computer access. I'm continuing to work on the design and will definitely let you guys know when the release is, if any. Me being a perfectionist it's taking a long time.

As a side note, my very first release is coming within the next few months. It's an illusion I spoke about on here some months ago actually. It's a project worked with two other well known designers. So look out for that. The base design and a little something I like to call "Neon" will hopefully be here next year.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. A website is in the works over September too.

Cheers from Japan everyone,

Mike

UPDATE:

I have spent a considerable amount of time revising the design. After almost half a sketchbook, I'm now relatively happy. Here's the info.

* 2 inch thick platform area.
* Can be constructed or deconstructed infront of the audience.
* Allows for sink vanish or appear.
* Can be set up easily and quickly.

MATERIALS:

* 1x 2" thick wood platform area that breaks into two for transport.
* 4x wooden strut supports for platform.
* 4x foldable stands for supports and platform.

The design will only allow a load of one however is more deceptive than previous versions. Other versions may be available for specific performer needs.

Due to me being in Japan a prototype is unlikely however a very simple computer rendering may come soon. I'm currently in the process of contacting builders and other designers to help perfect the design.

Contact me for more details. The website will be up within a months times.

Thanks guys,

Mike
