How do you delete a post?

You cannot delete your own post. You can edit it up to 30 minutes or until someone replies, whichever comes first. After that, simply use the report this post button at the top of your post and tell us what you want to do and why. We'll look at it and take whatever action we feel necessary.

If you are talking about your post in the new arrivals forum where you mis-spelled a few words, I took care of that for you and moved the topic to the correct forum.

Hi Dave. I’m curious why contributors can’t edit or delete their own posts after 30 min? Is this due to a coding tech issue in the backend? Thanks Andrew

Suppose you made a post that said the sky is pink. Ten minutes later someone post "you're wrong. The sky is orange" If you were allowed to delete your post, the post made by the other member wouldn't make sense. Being able to edit your own post, could change the meaning of what you said and effect other posters. If no one else had replied, 30 minutes is plenty of time for members to read what you posted, even if they don't make a post.

It's just a security issue to protect every member.

And that is, even during that time of 30 minutes that you wrote, I cannot delete the publication?

That is correct. Editing a post within the time frame doesn't hurt anything but having the ability to totally delete it has some behind the scenes ramifications. Best to let Café staff handle those.
