I have seen Tarot Card Readers for many years. I have a friend who lives thousands of miles from me who is very well known in her area. I have always been fascinated by the cards but never took the time to learn them. I now see all the wonderful effects with Tarot Cards and I wish I had. I would love to add some Tarot effects but I just don't know anything about readings. Understand I am not interested in becoming a reader only using them for some kind of effects. I would like some feedback as to what might be best for my situation.
Thanks Gerald

General advice: if you are going to do tricks with tarot, learn the basic meaning of the cards you are using. Simple key words will do the job, but if it comes up, you can at least discuss the cards with some base knowledge.
For some effects that are not terribly difficult, but do have a good impact, Black Hart is your first stop. He is on here regularly and is very easy to do business with. Ultimately, what do you want people to experience with the tricks? Are you telling a story? Is one card drawn to a person? Does a particular card tell you the answer to a question? Do the cards function as charms when you begin a ritual? Are you predicting what cards will be selected? When someone goes home and tells others what happened, how will the use of tarot cards help make the story better? Patrick |

I agree with Mr. Woolery 100%. When you said " Understand I am not interested in becoming a reader only using them for some kind of effects" I was wondering WHY? If they are just for card tricks then PLEASE just do card tricks and leave the TAROT out of it.

Thanks for replies gents,
Slim as an answer do I intend to do cards tricks with Tarot, no that is not my intention. I am interested in story telling with seance type effects here and there I think the Tarot would be good in both. So what I get from all this I should learn the basic meanings of the cards and go from there.

The Tarot themselves are a form of story telling. I think the key to using (as you must be careful not to offend sone) is subtlety.
There are many great effects that use tarot. I suggest Rick Maue, Stephen Minch, or look into the Black Hart. |

From another post here about bone casting, Mind_Magic shared a great website that also offers nicely-aged-looking tarot decks. They come with options such as keywords in the borders, custom backs, and standard or bridge size cards.
It's worth checking out. https://www.tarotbyseven.com/product-pag......rot-deck

And, if I do say so myself, there are some excellent effects included with the Ledger Marked Tarot Decks that come with several gaffed cards: https://taylorimagineering.com/shop/ledger-tarot-deck/ CT |

Please learn the real history of Tarot. With it becoming more and more mainstream, inventing history can be deadly.
And as you learn the real history, you have to understand the differences between US/UK Tarot & that of continental Europe. Example, the Ledger deck is European based. I've ordered a tarot by seven Tarot and they are beautiful and customizable. Currently working on marking my deck. (Which is one thing they can't do for you because it would be far too expensive printing wise). Great work and awesome to deal with.
