Thanks for the input! I'm sure it can be used for most routines like that. I was mostly curious about Mr. Stone's handling. I just got his book and have enjoyed his style.

I'm thinking he was using a magnetic copper/silver set with a dupe, but I'm not sure. I just liked the patter. Jon Townsend may know, or Gerald Doetch. Speak of the devil and he'll appear. (Like magic).

Sometimes. Smile

He used two ordinary coins for that one.

His two coin vanish using a Half Crown and an English Penney used a gaff by that name. Smile Smile

I didn't mention that Sol had some great work on the Linking Pins, but I forget the exact details but I remember that he used the Slydini style of PIN and not the Jerry Andrus' version. And of course with his great patter.

Sol Stone had a great coin penetration through a glass ashtray. This was a great idea.

Maybe it was a great idea back when lots of people smoked, but seriously I can't even recall the last time I saw an ashtray. And I'm fine with that.

I'm not familiar with the trick exactly, but I imagine there is a way to substitute the ash tray to something more relevant for today.

Ash tray, clear saucer, plate etc.. It's a great effect.

John Cornelius has a wonderful variation using a muscle pass in Kaufmans coin magic

In Sol's book he has a few coin penetrations, one with a clear glass plate and a couple with glass jars.

The one with the small (very small) glass jar is great. And yes, obviously a glass plate or even a glass mug could be substituted for the ashtray...the idea being not that it was about ashes or cigarettes but that you could see the effect in an interesting way because of the glass. Glass coffee tables are also useful for penetration effects (thru the table). John Cornelius has such great ideas. Right now I'm wondering about flipper coins. David Neighbors probably has work on this already.
