There are several ways to get around the "move it back" request. I usually perform it using the presentation that I am a tad bit embarrassed by my ugly tan line and wish I could move it out of the way where it can't be seen. This makes sense and it also gives you a reason not to move it back.

I also put quite a bit of acting into the actual movement and make it look like what I am doing is very difficult. So much so that I am drained after it has moved. It would almost be TO MUCH to move it again.

You can also offer to move your friends tan lines for a small fee. This will likely make here blush and take the heat off you. : )

After I got home, I started to think of ways around the 'move it back' request as well.(Really didn't dissappear, no cows in the area) Did it for a friend that came over later, and just ended with "Whew...I am glad I got that outta sight". they just kinda stared at me with their mouth open...lol.no request that time. Still lovin it, Nate.

The great thing about the routine is it just seems so natural and situational. It's not like you bring out a paddle or a chop cup. It's your arm!

Not only that but chances are they have NEVER seen anything like it. When you take out a deck of cards people already assume you are going to do the card trick their uncle Bob showed them.

OK, so, Nate PM's me today and askes me to share some more thoughts and stories on my use of this effect.
First off, a response to practicality and set up. I hate to say it like this but I am going to play a double devils advocate on the practical side. What is practical? Is spending thousands to put a bottle thru the glass table or to fly thru the air , practical? Some would say yes. What some of us call practical, some call stupid.(Harsh word but true) Yes I think this is VERY practical as who likes tan lines? How many of us spend hours naked in tanning salons to get rid of them, especially women? Granted , normally I am as white as white can get due to working nights at my real life job, but I feel the time to INIATIALLY set this up was well worth it. I say it that way because the first TOTAL set up takes the longest. So, for the pratical side in the spring , summer , and early fall , yes , I feel this is a practical real world effect. Winter might be a little far out, but as I said before how many go to salons?
So I guess that brings me to set up. Nate tells me that a lot of people think it takes to long to set up. After the first total set up, I don't see how they can say that. It takes me a minute or less to set up. How hard can it be? And because you obviously don't want to repeat this for the same group of people a minute later, the set up time is a mute point in my opinion. (Althogth I have come up with a way to move it again to my chest or other arm after showing it CLEARLY to be real on the first arm, but this may not work for all)(And am toying with a way to move it back to the wrist..... but that's for me and Nate to dicuss)
Now, Finally, on to a short story about the effect as I have perfomed it for people. (For the first time I did this read my earlier post)Please understand that I have ONLY been doing this for almost a month but the reactions have been GREAT!!! I actually performed this for a woman in the office I work at part time. Kind a had a little thing for her, So I take off my watch while she is near my desk , and as luck would have it, she notices my red arm with the tan line. She said something like ' I see you got some sun finally.' (Told you I am white) I said ' Yeah, but I forgot to take off my watch...' She said 'yeah I noticed.' BAM!!! Perfect timing, performed the effect, and she was left wide eyed. So now I took a chance with a comment Nate gave me... 'Any tan lines you need moved?' She giggled and now every time I see her, I get a hug and a ' show me something.' How can you beat that reaction? I mean this could be my future Ex- girlfriend. (yep 32 and still single...go figure...lol.)

So in closing my post.... if you cant find the practical use in this efect I am sorry. Nothing I say will change that. But I do know I will do this effect for a long time to come as it is neither card nor coin and I love that. I hope this may help some of you to make you decision.

Heheheh....yeah I see what you mean about the shoelaces. That could be a deal breaker.

Justin himself has a great effect that is perfect for that romantic evening. It was published in the Penumbra and it uses STARS. That is right...you heard me...the actual STARS in the sky. Go find it you won't be sorry!

Have you or anyone else in your posse approached anyone in Hollywood lately to put this effect on the next famous magicians special? I know this trick would play big with laymen and magicians. And if history repeats with other recent tricks, you would not be able to sell these fast enough.

I have been performing this since I got it from you at a lecture about 3 years ago. In this city it is hot, year-round, so it performs well here.

It is already in Virtual Magician and Mondo Magic, right?

It was also performed by Penn of Penn and Teller. They taped it for their underwater NBC special but it got cut. That along of a couple of other very cool close up effects were cut from the special.

I'm sure you will see it on TV again soon. : )
