Hey everyone. Has anyone ever had a problem with acne? My forehead and half of my back are covered in pimples! I wash all the time, have tried something similar to ProActiv (same amount of ingredients, just affordable Smile), Clearasil, and a few other creams and face washes. My acne just won't go! I've even tried the old "Just be patient and it will go away soon enough; you just have to eat right, stay healthy, and stay clean." Please, any help would be great!!! (Maybe I can finally put an avatar up! Smile) Thanks!!!

Two words for the day:

Healty diet

And two for your peace of mind;

Your dermatologist.

It's amazing what eating better can do.

And there are better things to use than irritants for your skin.

Daniel,
My 19 year old daughter has suffered the same.
Upon visiting a number of doctors, we finally hit on a specialist who put her on an antibiotic along with a mild skin caring regimen. The result is that in just three weeks she showed great improvement. Now, after several months, she is the happiest she has been in 5 years.

I hope you have a similar story to tell shortly. Looking forward to your avatar whatever the case may be.

My mom had a bad problem with acne when she was a teen but her dermatologist prescribed some pills and a cream and her skin improved a lot. If you want to prevent it, then read The Acne Prescription by Dr. Pericone. He's also the author of The Pericone Prescription (a diet to make your skin healthy and get thinner). The Acne Prescription gives you the diet that would help you get rid of your acne.

Thanks everyone!

blindbo: I'm glad to hear that your daughter is doing great! I'm sure I will be able to share similar stories with you within a short period of time Smile.

David: Thanks for the information! I'll be sure to search it. I can't wait to get my hands on it! I think I still have some pills from a doctor but they never worked...maybe I should try those again too, just to see if I should give them some more time...

WAHOO!!! Avatar, HERE I COME! Smile

Daniel,

Sorry to hear about your problem. I, too, suffered through the acne curse on both my face and back as a young man. I tried everything, Oxy-10, Clearasil, and even face-freezing from a dermatologist. Nothing seemed to help. Finally, I went to a medical doctor who prescribed antibiotics, lots of water, and of all things -- Noxzema. Although everyone's skin is different, these things made a drastic improvement for me. I was glad to see in Blindbo's post that other people have had success with the antibiotic route. I truly believe that the Noxzema was a big help as well. I use it to wash my face to this day. Hang in there, buddy.

Go to the dermatoligst and ask for a perscription for Tetracycline.

My step-sister did it and her face cleared up very quick. I have a bottle of it left (my acne was never that bad but I got it anyway).

Wash your face in the morning, then before you go to sleep, get the medication and some Oxy 10 (anything less then 10 won't do any good).

You didn't say how old you are. If you are a teen then I would say that the problem will most likely pass. If you are an older adult, you might have an allergy to something (allergy's can start at anytime).

Listen. Your body is over-producing a reaction to blocked hair follicles. Your body assumes an infection is imminent and protects the area with an unsightly infection fighting module.

Diet, as mentioned, is the key. And LOTS of PURE water.
Eat at least 3 fruits a day( as a supplement), eg. 1xapple, 1xkiwi, 10xgrapes.
Look at only drinking water for two weeks. EVERY TIME YOU WANT A DRINK make it WATER!!!
Ok. its not nice only drinking water, but I guess Its not nice being spotty!!!

When your body is flushed. (about 2-3 weeks) start to introduce your previous food and drinks. ONLY USE YOUR OLD FOOD AND DRINKS AS A SUPPLEMENT to water and fruit.
Cut down on your meat by about 50%. Only eat good quality meat cuts (not fast food junk). If you have the option of fast food or no food, go with no food. get a juice or water.
You want to look at meat as around 25-30% of diet, remove fat also.
Meat may add to hormone production in an active body system, so reduction (not exclusion) is a good move.
Dark berries. Cherries, blue/black-berries/currents. are all good. and flush the system of toxins.
I would look to eating around 250-500g of dark berries every two days.
Hope that helps!

I agree with Partizan, I am not a Doctor (but I did stay at a Days Inn last night). My sister-in-law had the worst case of skin problems I'd ever seen. Many doctors tried many things. In the end all that worked was pretty much what Partizan said. It turned out she was allergic to many things, including dairy and it showed up as acne. Try the eating right option, it can't hurt and may save you enough money so you can buy a couple of new effects or books.

Years ago, in my teen years, I was on an antibiotic that really helped out.

I think I'm going to stay away from diets for now. Antibiotics may be my best bet. The water I'm fine with.

irossall: I'm only 12! I think it will pass, but the thing is I want to try and AT LEAST prevent MORE and MORE from appearing (what an appropriate word Smile)! It started a couple of years ago, and I just keep getting more...it's not a VERY BAD case though...it's more of a hormonal thing I would assume, but I don't think it's good if they start coming up all the time Smile.

Today will be my first day with antibiotics! I'll keep everything up to date from here. Thanks everyone!

It's not a DIET! it's a way of thinking about your health. If you have a problem try a 'diet' out. I'm not talking greens and beens but intelligent management of what you eat & drink.
Anti-Bio's are BAD BAD BAD!. If you have not built up a resistance to a certain product anti-bio's are just a general cover-all and not a solution. More harm may result from introducing foreign anti-bod's to your system than changing your 'habits'.

How much sugar-drinks do you have?
How much Mc-food do you eat?
How much candy and sweets?
how many pizzas?

Change your habits (put yourself on your own diet) and you will see the effects within a month.
You must think of a diet as a controlled way of eating. Not a fad to be followed.

Hey Partizan. When I said I'm going to stay away from diets, I was referring to the books somebody mentioned earlier...pre-planned meals that others recommend, etc. I kind of worded that weird...but I like your recommendations. I've actually started changing the way I eat after reading your posts...now...back to those carrot sticks... Smile. Thanks!

My eldest son, nearly 19, - good job, nice car, slim, nearly 6 footer, blonde hair.

Just wish I could get him to address this problem. Am probably an interfering parent but you know, if he'd take my advice the chicks would be falling over backwards (??) for him.

Grandparents still bring my kids loads of chocolate and sweets twice a week!!!!

Partizan so right over dark berries by the way. Cranberry juice particularly good (is nice mixed with Pepsi)

My brother improved his skin by cutting soda, sugars, chocolates and caffeines. Try that.

Just a word of caution. If you do start to drink LOTS of water you would be advised to take a mineral/salt suppliment. these will be flushed out of your body quite fast. If you take suppliments take half the dosage or twice the time. eg.
supp says 1 pill a day. You take 1 every 2 days.
supp says 3 times per day. take 1 and half per day.
Or just use the dosage for a minor.

I had the same problem, but then I simply stopped sleeping at night with my face on a pepperoni pizza. Worked wonders.

Ellen: I've began cutting down on ALL of that. I'll tell you if it helps!

Partizan: I'll make sure to keep that in mind...

Fishsticks: LoL I wish this were the case for me Smile.

Thanks again for all of your help!
