Thing about Magic is you get a prop you love and then it breaks or you lose it, and it is no longer available.
For me, I am sad that Slo Motion, Haunted Doll, and a number of Tenyo effects are no longer manufactured. How about you? |

Most recently it is the Sansminds Light It Up self-lighting lighter. It was a prop of great design but with horrible quality construction. The first I purchased broke within two weeks of regular performing. I purchased another which was dead on arrival. To their credit, penguin magic refunded that second amount immediately. I contacted Sansminds about warranty repair but with shipping they wanted more for the internal replacement module than what I originally paid for the unit. Someone could sell a lot if they manufactured more robust replacement modules as from reports the originals had a near 100% failure rate. Yet those who owned them had near universal praise for the prop when it worked.
Historically, I miss the entire Steve Dusheck line of products. Only items readily available are the terrific diminishing cards and ballerina hank. So many awesome tricks are no longer made and sell on secondary market for 3 to 10 times what they did originally. |

Die-namite by Lee Earle. I bought one when he lectured in Sydney and used it in every show I did from then on. Eventually it died, I’ve tried making a new one for myself several times but just can’t get it to be as nice as the ones he sold.

There's a thread somewhere - maybe "Latest and Greatest" about this with a few more details, but no info as yet re: what effect(s) will be produced first or when they will be released.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Devano Rising Cards (in Fox Lake) - the original pin method; and hand-made by Mitch Devano.
Not any of the complete and utter rip-off 'tat' produced today - including the absolutely woeful 'Martini Rising Cards'.

I used to have a superb p****e effect by Tenyo called Mystic Ruby. Unfortunately one of my spectators shook it too hard and one of the gems dropped out. I glued it back in but it never looked the same.

Way back in the day, Supreme Magic sold two items that I used all the time in my children's shows.
Fantasy in Feathers was a different take on the color-changing plumes and I wore out three sets over my career. I had such a successful routine with them that, even at $100 apiece, I would have bought six of them if I had known Edwin couldn't get any more in stock. My set of ropes in Edwin's Knot Knots lasted 30 years, although the special tote-style change bag needed repair over those years. I wish I had bought a spare set just to have it.

I miss Tenyo's Rainbow Silks (got mine around 1980). It was a very practical version of 20th Century Silks.
