Not sure if everybody realizes this, but if you click on the “One Two Three Four”, you are treated to over an hour’s worth of wonderful Beatles stories, read by the author Craig Brown.

This is great.
Back in 2006-8, I was visiting a buddy of mine who was working in Hamburg, Germany. He frequented an Irish Pub, which I went to with him, owned by Gibson Kemp, who was the drummer who replaced Ringo in Rory Storm's band, after he joined the Beatles. Gibson was also from Liverpool. On one of my visits to the pub, I met Gibson's ex-wife, who was working there, and who happened to be Astrid Kirchherr. Astrid was a German photographer who took many early photos of the Beatles in Hamburg and had a romance with Stu Sutcliffe, featured in the "Backbeat" movie. She's also responsible for the Beatles famous haircut style. I had a great time talking to her that evening. She still had her trademark haircut from when she was young. Boy do I wish I'd had a camera phone back then.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |
