I'm actually surprised how hard this is. I want a watch I can wear every day, but I want it to have a gimmick that allows me to do some on the spot magic. I'm not hung up on what the magic is except I would it to make for a good presentation. I am wanting this watch to keep accurate time. I've come across the Infinity Watch V2, but it seems to be sold out everywhere. But, that is the sort of idea I'm interested in. Thanks for sharing any thoughts and/or links.

To clarify, The watch doesn't have to do the same sort of magic the Infinity watch does, I was just using that as an example of a magic watch that can work as your day-to-day watch for knowing what time it is.

Merlin: ...... and I thought $150 for an Infinity Watch was a lot! Perfect Time looks cool, but is way out of my league. I just do magic for fun. The Infinity Watch is already 3-times more than any other effect I have every bought.
Boomer: This is also sorta expensive, but is in the ballpark. I like that I can basically do this with my voice, but does that mean I have to have my phone on me? Is this going to work with my phone in my pants pocket? The thing I like about this is that it appears I can buy a Fossil Watch and make this work with something a little fun with a sweep second hand. |

I have a $60 Withing Activite A4 that the app works with, which is $99.
Or, for $300, you get the specially designed watch which has other features and you get the app for free. Not a good idea to have a sweep second hand IMO, but if it works for you, then go with it. Dave |

I have a Fossil Hybrid watch which I use in conjunction with Timesmith and iThump.

I'm guessing it'll probably last about 3 to 4 months. Dead easy to change too - takes just a few seconds. I did have a Turner Watch and that was much more difficult to change the battery!!!!

I have 2 questions: 1) AS I have looked into this more and more, I've figured out that there are a lot of these watches on the market. Is this "trick" at risk of being figured out by younger folks who know that watches can be connected to a phone? I ask because for me this is a hobby. I've never spent more than $50 on a trick. Meaning, this is a big investment and I'd not want it muddled with folks saying "I bet that is one of these bluetooth watches". 2) What is the range like? I'm thinking of putting the watch in a box that the spectator holds. Maybe 4-6 feet away. Or should I rethink that? |

1.0 - the same argument can be aimed based on wearing a watch that nobody has ever heard of! If you think that your spectator will somehow deduce that you have an app that secretly controls your watch, then perhaps it’s your routining and performance rather than the type of watch that is the issue? I’m a working pro and have never had any issues with anyone questioning the type of watch!!! Sometimes we think like a magician and not like a muggle LOL. If however this is an issue for you, then you’ll need to invest a much larger sum for a “magic watch” like a Turner Watch or SB Watch. As I mentioned, I used to have a Turner Watch and sold it to use my Fossil instead. Hmmmmm.
2.0 - the range is excellent. Indeed this was one of the challenges with the Turner Watch, but now with both Timesmith and iThump, I can use my watch without any practical working restrictions effecting connection. Can’t give a definite range as it’s based on the usual Bluetooth issues sorry. I also use the Wilson remote to input the time sometimes which again has no range issues either. Hope this helps buddy

I'll share my idea, if you are interested. I intend to ask the spectator if they feel that they are easily influenced. They will say no, and I'll suggest to them that I can influence them. I'll tell them to think of a time of day all the way down to the exact minute, but I'll make suggestions to them that could relate to various times of the day and ask them if they feel that any of my suggestions would have consciously caused them to land at a specific time. I'll have them write the time on a quarter, which I'll use in the next trick. And then I'll ask them how shocked they would be if I had infact already known what time they would pick because I influenced them unconsciously. yada yada yada, they open the box and the time they wrote on the quarter is on the watch that was in the box they were holding the entire time. At least that's the plan right now. And congratulations on being a pro! If I could quit my day job and support my family on magic, that would be a dream come true. Very respectfully, Ken |

Hi Ken. Yes this effect would be easily achieved using Timesmith and an appropriate watch. Nice that you are also linking it with another effect too - excellent creative work boom! Good luck. Let us know how it all goes buddy

Here's one routine I use.
Watch removed from wrist placed on table face down. Ask spec to cast their mind back to a really happy time in their life. Pass them a business card and ask them to write down the time - you turn away of course. The card is returned to the pile of business cards and are placed on the specs hand. They place the other hand on top. You can then ask them to describe this special moment etc.... They look at watch and the time matches. I like this as it uses two methods within the routine which makes it very difficult to backtrack. Cheers Sean
