Out of the box, I am very impressed with these. As others have said, the aging is bang-on. It doesn't look over-aged of fake--it looks exactly like something from the time period should be. The wrap and the little folded instructions to follow along with the spectator complete the package and add a lot of visual and tactile interest.
As can be said for Bobby's other releases, the premise is believable and lends itself to a progressive build-up that culminates in a beautiful, satisfying presentation. I also dig that the cards are subtly marked, which has my wheels turning for other approaches/applications of these. This is a very welcome addition to my arsenal! |

I have yet to do this in the real world but (without spelling out the presentation that allows you to do this) this is my thought for the finale: don't announce what is about to happen. The ending might just exist in one person's mind if they don't say anything. Even if that happens it will feel complete to everyone else.

If we're sharing pre-real world thoughts here's mine; The final reveal as presented in the instructions is a waste of the gifts this effects gives you. You go from fun instant oracle to your uncle going is this your card. You're given the chance to peer into a person's soul and read them like a book and instead you go "it's just a funny object that just works an interesting way."

You can change the presentation so it's not a reveal but a coincidence... "One of these images has a further message for you, perhaps in relation to an unspoken question or in response to your situation at this time" The thought of card has already served it's purpose and you make no reference to it. You're continuing with divination. It's coincidence that the image that contains their message is the same image that they thought of previously. You are just as surprised as they are. Bare bones for my thoughts but there ya go.

I think the final reveal works if you present it as an actual item that would have been sold in some Egyptian market or back alley shop - the fact that it apparently does what it does, while not being presented as a magic trick so much as an interesting item, I think that absolutely works -
Bobby has also given room for other ideas by marking the cards - Lots of uses for this, even if you don't use the final reveal - however, the final reveal certainly works and is well thought out which makes it more than an "uncle going is this your card" trick - |

I just finished performing Osiris for the first time to a spectator. My girlfriend knows I do magic, but also is aware that I collect vintage fortune-teller-type items, so I went with "Here's another one of my Ebay finds that apparently was sold back in the day in Egypt. Let's try it and see if it works...
The paper wrap, instructions, and cards were all taken by her as the real deal, and the question and answer portion was really fun for us both. Her first question was were we going to win the Mega Millions tonight? (we had bought tickets earlier). With her chosen symbol landing in the yes pile, we both started to get excited lol. With her second question, her unannounced symbol also landed in the yes pile (asking if one of her co-workers that often doesn't show up would be coming to work tomorrow). She was happy. The third was whether I would be having dinner with her parents sometime in the next month. Thankfully it landed in no. lol After the experiment was finished, I went into the second portion stating that I did some research on the cards late last night online, and apparently the cards could divine what she chose, without her ever having stated it out loud. (It was then when she gave me the "this is a trick isn't it" look, but I played it seriously). After doing the reveal though, when her chosen symbol The Lotus was the only card left, she let out a gleeful shout. It went over really, really well... The kicker is when we flipped over the instruction to read the definitions of each symbol, she chose The Lotus - indicating a sudden and unexpected abundance soon in your life - made us BOTH get excited with said purchased lottery tickets. I guess we will see the true power of Osiris if our tickets end up hitting. I will delete this post if I am sharing too much, but I just wanted to share how happy I am yet again with a purchase from Bobby. It really has become a must buy to whatever he puts out. Keep it up! I'm eagerly waiting for what you dream up next. |

SlipperySnake - Great story about performing with OSIRIS - I agree that it will play much better when presented as an item from your collection - It really is a cool piece - If you win the lotto - we will know that Bobby has created something extraordinary

Etsy is a more likely place than Ebay to find such items. Just sayin'

I have a pretty nice collection of items I found on Ebay, but I'll definitely check out Etsy to see what vintage items they have to offer.

Just received this, very impressed with it. My first bumbled attempt at performing it lead to my very skeptical spectator going, "So this is like, something they sold in tourist shops back in the day?"
Even if my performance wasn't a stunner, the aging certainly fooled. Going to go back to practicing so my performance matches the quality of the materials. |
