Hi
Can anyone recommend a Crystal Silk Cylinder with 2 loads that I can buy in the UK please? I would like to use it to produce live Goldfish at the end as well. Many thanks |

The CSC addition was only provided by U.F. Grant products that is now Mak Magic, here in the U.S. They provided the addition, as it was called, for a second production, as I recall from some 40 years ago.
I could only locate what is called, Crystal Silk Cylinder Pro Model by a wholesale company called, Magic Makers, here in the U.S. This says it is sealed for fish. You can only purchase this model from a magic dealer, so if they do not have the PRO model, you would have to ask them if they would order it for you. That means you would most likely have to pay the postage cost to the U.K. or the price you pay would reflect that increase do to added postage. I have to add my experience with Magic Makers, is that their product quality is not up to being very good. Check with all the magic shops in London and other magic places in the U.K. if they have this item or will obtain it for you. |

Ickle Pickle also makes a fish model.
https://icklepicklemagic.com/index.php?r......t_id=730 BTW, if you want a really high quality Crystal Silk Cylinder, and you're planning to use silks in it, I'd suggest looking at the Crystal Cylinder Supreme made by Dazzling Magic. I own one, and it's a beautiful prop. It's not listed on his site right now (neither is his Test Tube Bunny), so maybe Marty Hahne hasn't made a batch for a while. Marty owns the rights to the Gene Elmo line of props. I've never seen a double load model. (Two outer tubes does not necessarily mean two loads.) - Donald

Hey
Thanks very much for your replies. Bill Hegbli - I have sourced a CSC pro model here in the UK which states that it is sealed for fish but didn't know that the CSC addition was only produced by Mak Magic. Thanks very much for your info - I couldn't work out why I couldn't find the addition with any CSC in the UK but if there is only one company making it ... now I know. And Donald Dunphy I will certainly check out the Dazzling Magic one - super appreciate your answer. |

I second what Donald Dunphy said. The design and construction of Dazzling Magic's Crystal Silk Cylinder is superior in every regard. You won't be disappointed.

I don't know if Marty is still making the tubes as I know the material cost was going through the roof. I have two of the test tube bunnies that I used to produce CEO's in corporate shows. I guess maybe it is time to dig them out and get rid of at least one of them.
But again, Marty's is one of the best made one around that will last for years.

Last I spoke with Marty, his schedule was so busy he was cutting back extensively on his product line; said he didn't have time to manufacture (was looking for a magic painting prop that he was licensed to make in the USA from Practical. You may want to see if someone can make one for you... my suggestion is Dan at Smoky Mountain Magic... he's never let me down, and a GREAT guy to work with.

Apologies in the delay replying to you all and also I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Richard Hughes as well. I received my lovely bowl from you and can't wait to use it. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply. I bought a Pro one with only one tube - happy to do the trick a few times first to see how it works as part of the show then maybe amend it.

FYI, Marty and Brenda usually setup as dealers at the Annual Abbott's Get-Togethers, so, if you're planning on attending, you might want to talk with them about this prop and others while you are there. They are straight shooters and can be trusted.

I exchanged some messages with Marty today. As it turns out, he plans to build six Crystal Silk Cylinders next week. One of them is now spoken for.

I own the Mak version with the addition. As stated by Donald above it is not an extra load, just an extra tube. The extra tube helps with the decptiveness of the effect. The Mak version is sealed for fish. It is well made and has been serving me well for about 25 years.

I see two things in the above posts I like. (And I have included Crystal Silk Cylinders in my shows for about 50 years.)
I like Marty's Prop and sometimes use two of them (across Stage) to transpose objects. Also I certainly recommend getting the ones with the extra cylinder. It is simply much more convincing. They are great props with loads of applications. ENJOY! |

One of my favorite tricks with the Crystal Silk Cylinder is to put Five 18" Orange silks, one at a time, into the clear cylinder, cover, then Voila! 5 oranges appear!
It's stupid, dumb simple but highly effective and very visible! |

We've combined U.F. Grant's Crystal Cylinder and Strat-O-Sphere's for a well received routine that used to catch even our magician friends off guard. Our son won a youth magic contest with this novel approach.
Julie We have a Test Tube Bunny, too. It looks beautiful sitting on the top display shelf. |

If you can get one from Marty Hahne at Dazzling Magic (if he ever gets time to make more) I think you'll be very happy with it. And Dan Wolfe at Smokey Mountain Magic makes high quality props , so I'm sure he could supply you with a solid unit that would last for years. ------ I know that ProLine Magic also made a version of the CSC . I don't know if it's still available. It looks good from the photos , but I've never used Proline's . Does anyone have experience using their version? It's on their website, but no price listed , so that makes me wonder if it's out of production ? Steven's Magic Emporium shows it as Out Of Stock. Click here to view attached image. |

Just in case anyone is searching the used magic and auction sites for a Dazzling Magic Silk Cylinder Supreme, here's what it looks like (they also made it in other colors) -

It is listed on their website for $150 (I was mistaken when I wrote earlier that the price was not listed ... that was a problem with the browser I was using not rendering the webpage correctly for some reason. When I used a different browser I could see the price clearly listed as $150). Click here to view attached image. |

As far as the "Crystal Silk Cylinder ADDITION" that was available from Grant/MAK , it's just an extra tube that is slightly less in diameter than the main tube, so the main tube can slide down over the additional tube. If you get lucky you might find a round mailing tube/storage tube made of cardboard or hard plastic that is the correct diameter to fit inside the main tube , which can then be decorated appropriately , or you could have a metal tube made.
Doing a search I see Daytona Magic is offering the Crystal Silk Cylinder Addition tube for $26.00 . https://daytonamagic.com/shop/product/16......ddition/ . Of course, this tube is made to fit the MAK Magic version , so if you decide to buy a different version of the CSC you would need to take measurements of the tube diameters and then email Harry at Daytona Magic to ask him to take a diameter and height measurement of the CSC Addition tube to see if it is suitable to use with your CSC.
