I have been reading Café posts since the Summer of 2019. It is so nice to now have an account so I too can contribute.
Your posts in the Café's have been a Godsend and a treasure trove of information. I have read years and years of your posts. At times I felt like a time traveler being able to go back in time and read all the excitement and discussions esp when I used the Wayback machine to see the items that were being discussed. I have learned so much from all your creative and generous minds. Magic has been a hobby since I was a child. I put it away when I started college but many years later after switching careers to nursing, I took it out again. One day in the ED I realized how powerful 2 red sponge balls could be. Children in the ED are very hard to assess initially. Are they sick? Are they just scared because they think they are going to get a shot, are they frightened from all of the commotion and new people. It is so hard to tell because sick kids and scared kids look very similar at first glance. But it is critical to find out as quickly as possible because sick Children can crash very quickly. Magic red balls tell me in seconds how the child is doing. If the child watches every thing I do with interest I am good and can breath a little easier, if the child laughs or giggles even better and I am golden, if the child does not respond appropriately then I am much more concerned and bring in more resources and people. After a few tricks I am the Pied Piper. The kids will let me touch them, listen to their hearts and lungs, and fully assess them. Truly magic can save lives. |

Welcome! That's the best introduction post I ever read!
