Al kinds of companies and agencies are jumping in an offering prizes and bonuses from fifty dollars to free rifles, to etc. to people who get vaccinated now. As a way of rubbing there noses in it, to those who got there shots when they should have.

So these companies are merely being vindictive? Is that what you're saying??

To be fair, depending on one's age, many people weren't able to get the shot months ago. So probably not all of the recent reward recipients were holdouts. They just weren't eligible for the shot back then. Plus, there was a hold on the J&J vaccine, which further delayed vaccination for some.
That being said, there is some contingent that wouldn't have gotten the shot without some sort of incentive. And another contingent that won't get the shot no matter what. Obviously, if your goal is to vaccinate as many people as possible, then offering rewards is a valid option. Especially when every vaccination potentially impacts all of us, not just the person getting vaccinated. Ron

It seems to me that knowing you could die if you don’t get vaccinated should be strong enough incentive. The vaccine is readily available now. I think offering incentives sets a bad example.

The rewards are for ALL vaccinated folks regardless of when given.

I don't get it. I mean to complain that someone got something you didn't is really a bad look. I mean people often buy things on sale and others pay full price. Get over it.

The incentives are primarily two categories. Save 10% at the store location you receive the vaccine, or proof of vaccination required.
Would you delay your vaccine for 6 months for 10% off purchase at CVS?

Here is the incentive. YOU DON'T GET COVID!
You could have waited. Just like any sale. People are amazing. I'm sure JFK would be proud.

It’s almost comical that individuals need an incentive beyond not dying. When I first heard about incentives, my first thought was that people who don’t get vaccinated should be penalized (excepting those whose doctor says they shouldn’t, of course).
There are people in other countries who want desperately to get the vaccine. I wonder what they think of this idiocy. |

It's about choice at this point.
But an incentive beyond not dying seems unnecessary. How sad.

So I've heard that if you've had Covid, you're immune from getting it again, and won't need a vaccine.
Is this true? |

Like with any disease some antibodies will exist generally. How effective they are for how long is a matter of debate. (Actual debate mind you not wacko conspiracy debate.)

Though, the 2nd time around 1 was asymptomatic but did test positive while the other had all the symptoms again. The only reason I delayed getting vaccinated earlier was due to our local/country policy. If we were to leave the country we would have to quarantine for 2 weeks; which we would not be paid. Also, there would be a quarantine period at our destination as well. So, an 1 week paid vacation (40 hours) means we would only receive 40 hours of pay to last 5 weeks. I had COVID in January of 2020. I have taken the vaccine and I will be officially immunized on Tuesday. So my reward is that I won't have to quarantine once I return from vacation.
I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.
