Have your thoughts changed at all after playing with it, dooblehorn?

Yes the tutorial is very short but it is to the point and informs you about all you need to know. The Gimmick I find ingenious very well produced and lets you perform a very baffling C/S routine which is examinable too. Each to his own, I am very happy with my purchase.

Received my coin set today and I quite like it but as dooblehorn has said already, there is a small (in fact tiny) component which could easily be lost. I dropped mine several times during the first few minutes practice. What a pity that one or two spares were not included in the package.

That tiny component is a nuisance and not necessary at all anyway. It's really more you might say trying to be a magician fooler.
It will only be seen for a millisecond, and even that isn’t necessary, just go immediately into the Switch out. But if you do wish to flash both sides of the gaff your finger almost naturally covers the hole anyway for that millisecond. I have to make a conscious effort not to cover it. Might as well get used to not using it because the way that that microscopic piece likes to fly out of its position there’s no way it’s not going to be irretrievably lost within hours of getting it. |

This particular set has been manfucatured for a while by Magikoins and I have been using a lot - for me it's one of the best coin effects out there (I wouldn't go as far as say "routine" as it's quite short). The Magikoins set is of far better quality (and is made of real coins - for the Morgan Dollar part at least) but it's also way more expensive (~$650 for the morgan dollar version... so basically 10 times more expensive); I also got the N5 set as a back-up just in case and to be honest the quality is quite good and it does come with an extra little something that can help you as a convincer (it's more a magician fooler though... and yes you can lose if you're not careful). But yeah, overall I would agree with the review, it's a really good effect with coins that are of decent quality. I won't comment on the tutorial because, to be completely honest, I haven't watched it since I came up with my own handling a while back when I got the Magikoins set (which does not come with a routine).

To add my 2 cents. This is well made, visual and easy to perform. You can ditch the tiny piece not needed.
I highly recommend it. Mike

I now know that the little piece we have been discussing is comprised of two parts - a tiny piece and an almost microscopic piece! When I dropped it on the carpet recently the 'microscopic' bit, about half the size of a grain of rice, popped out. A dab of superglue will sort that but I'm guessing its only a matter of time before I lose the whole 'piece'.

As long as you don’t do a certain move the tiny piece should stay in place perfectly.
Its not only a magicians fooler but nice little convincer I think. But I like the idea and possibility of performing without the small gimmick videoman! Didn’t thought about that. For me this set is perfect. Really well made gimmicks. There should be a group to share some handling ideas for this. The only thing I needed to do was to polish two coins to make them look identical. One was much darker than the other. |

A little noisy when the one hand change is done, but a nice looking set.

Hey there, everyone. First time poster here. With two questions on the N5 (Red) that I just purchased. I will be delicate here to make sure not to reveal anything, but I did want to confirm a thing or two about my set and make sure it's correct. I purchased it from the awesome Julio at JCR Magic in San Antonio, TX. Love supporting our brick and mortar shops where I can...
Before the 2 questions, quick setup. I purchased the red N5 set and overall the quality of the components is really strong (if only we could say the same for the tutorial video). I agree with the commenters above about the "small" part being superfluous - I already had to pull out the flashlight and do a search for it under the desk. Depending on the handling - I don't think I am going to need it. The non-gimmick Morgan half and red Chinese coins are tops. The wand is a wand. Now the two questions: 1) While the, shall we say, HOLED portion of the gimmick is a real red Chinese coin, the other, SMOOTH part of the gimmicked coin I got is a (silkscreened) Black Chinese coin. I just want to make sure this is accurate and didn't get swapped in the shop or factory. I don't know if this is ever audience-facing, but I could see how it would help with coverage if you had people standing around you. QUESTION: Is this the way it is with other N5 RED sets that people have? Or should this be red printing? 2) What's up with the nickel-sized device? It's shown in the packaging so I don't think I am giving anything away. It's mentioned in the first 10 seconds of the BRIEF tutorial but never paid off. Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks. I have this and I think it is brilliant.
Here is how I use it....First ditch the small piece, it's not needed. I show both coins on both sides, cover the coins with a silk hanky, under cover push up the Chinese coin and have them pinch this coin through the hanky. Come away with the gimmick with the Chinese coin showing, they think they have the dollar. Do the change and show the dollar on both sides, they look under the Hank and find they have the Chinese coin. You have all the time in the world to switch out the gimmick, although there's really no need to as everything looks so clean and they're holding the non gimmicked coin..😉 Probably one of the cleanest C/S routines out there, certainly the easiest! I would suggest emailing N2G directly to ask them. I doubt anyone here can help you.
Generally, I find makers aren't super likely to offer just part of a set like this as a replacement, because they need to be tested to fit properly.. |
