I like the look of this. Cody’s material is always very strong and well thought out. Very curious about the gimmick itself, if it is something I can replace when it gets worn or make a new one for a new deck.

This one looks incredible. But, as RMK wonders, how long will the gimmick last? Can it be made via DIY?

I love, have purchased and used several of Cody’s effects. Am just speculating but why isn’t this just final reveal card with the her card stuck on top with glue stick and if that is the case, still a good trick

And if not I am also curious about the durability of the gimmick

Already ordered this since I've been performing "Red Hot Mama" or "Chicago Opener" as my opener for about 30 years. This version honestly looks fantastic, having reviewed the online instructions - haven't received the gimmick yet. Two things to note:
1.) The gimmick is removable in a way that's easier than a piece simply stuck on one side - the gimmick goes on *both* sides of the card so it can be slid off and removed as one piece, if you get my drift. 2.) I'm not sure what materials it's made out of, but that will surely influence durability. From reviewing the instructions, it doesn't look like it's made out of normal card stock, since it sometimes seems to catch the studio lighting and reflect a little bit. Hopefully this won't be an issue in performance. 3.) Anyone versed in arts and crafts would probably have little trouble preparing replacement gimmicks out of regular card if they so wished. Looking forward to performing this! |

Cody had no idea Penguin put this out yesterday, until a friend told him. He said he recorded it a few years ago while filming a Penguin Lecture and forgot all about it. He was actually just thinking this week if had had anything he hadn’t put out yet when this popped up!

I just ordered this and had a chance to review the tutorial on it and I have to admit I'm pretty impressed. I will give a full review as far as the actual handling when I receive this and have had a chance to work with it a little bit. But some pretty nice thinking has gone into this.

I remember years ago watching James Biss do a version of this but the card just said "Your Card", pretty much identical handling. Obviously the name doesn't change but if you want a slightly less gaffless version just use that.

What I like about this routine is that when her card changes to his card there's no heat whatsoever, IMO, with anyone looking for a gimmick because the change is so smooth allowing you to ditch the gimmick very easily. Now if you do the visual change that Cody teaches then possibly there may be some heat but even then I doubt it.
