I just turned 40 and just got into magic! A year ago I couldn’t even shuffle a deck of cards, and then I was quarantined away from my family for a bit and watched a virtual magic show as a way to spend some time together. I was so blown away I would spend all my spare time trying to get some kind of skill level with cards.
Anyway I am also a childhood trauma survivor and former meth addict, working on combining my story with magic to inspire others. Excited to be a part of the community! |

Welcome and congratulations on getting into magic. It's a great way to engage the family (though my wife and kids might disagree after watching my 20th revision of my Ambitious Card Routine).
I wasn't big into card magic for a long time. I couldn't understand the moves from reading a book. But about 3 years ago I took a job that required about 40 minute daily train ride as part of commute. So I began watching videos on iPad. I got Oz Pearlman's "Born to Perform" DVD from Penguin magic. He does a great job on teaching basic/medium slights, and shows tricks that use the slight he just explained. It really jump started my card skills. I'd recommend you take a look at it. Welcome and enjoy the Café!
