Ultimate Mental Die by Magic Wagon will be available on Monday 28 or Tuesday 29 June 2021.
The performer displays a beautiful wooden box along with an elegant looking die. While the performer’s back is turned, a spectator is invited to drop the die with their favorite number on top into the box and then securing its lid closed. The performer now turns around and without even touching or going near the box immediately reveals the selected number! This is one of the very few props in mentalism that fits all of the following criteria. (1) The performer never needs to touch the box to make the divination. (2) The effect is entirely self-contained. (3) No electronics or gimmicks are used or involved. What also sets this apart from other “Mental Die” effects is that it is a radically different method for divining a chosen number on a die. The engineering behind this effect is absolutely ingenious and hundreds of hours have gone into the development of this mechanical marvel! The wood & brass work mechanism involved inside is highly elaborate due to the consequence of the manufacturing processes which takes over 25 hours to create just one Ultimate Mental Die. The box measures approximately 8.3cms wide, 13.2cms high and 8.3cms deep and has been completely handcrafted from natural aged teak wood with a lightly distressed oil finish. The die is also handcrafted from teak wood and is finely adorned with 21 brass screws. *** Thanks to Tony Curtis for the illustration Simon |

Nice collection Mr. Talbot. You're on a roll. (Pardon my dicey humor, but I knew that joke would be a gamble, yet I had a feeling it would be spot on).
One of my favorite kickers for this prop is to divine the upper most number once, or twice, and then end by divining the bottom number. With a die, it's easy since the numbers add up to 7. And surprisingly, many laymen either don't know this, or have forgotten.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

LOL! Wiz. Yes the "7" gambit is a good piece of knowledge to employ. The cool look of this new MW version already has me thinking of a presenational hook I will want to use for it.

Actually that is very similar to the Berg orginal verison in the photo (small wooden box with Red die on top). Bought that from Al Cohen many years ago and included a nice kicker ending he added

John.... you need to look for the Labco version and the one built by Tim Wiseman.... (and Anverdi made two versions as well) Klaus Peckhaus made one for Mark Mason I think.

Hi Rhett... I actaully have a Wiseman version but did not show it as it uses a color cube versus a die. Have handled the other Anverdi version and it is a beautiful piece as well. Have also seen the Klaus version which is very nice and the cube opens similarly to how Anverdi designed his. I will never own them all but fun keeping an eye out

If so, that may be a good first phase, revealing whether the spectator placed the die inside the box or not. Then, ask for the die to definitely be placed inside the box with the upper most number being memorized. Phase 2 would be the performer revealing the number. In phase 3, the performer could reveal the upper most number, and then the bottom number.

Good thinking Wiz. I am most excited by the fact the new MW version will have what I anticipate will be a unique detection method. Out of curiosity how many different detection methods do people think are used in the photo I posted?

This is their solution to duplicating(?) the Anverdi effect without resorting to electronics. It's obvious the new MW apparatus is nothing like the RothBeck item, but it is interesting to see how many variations there are to this theme, isn't it? Julie |

I'm guessing just one method... mentalism.

John, hate to burst your bubble but you are missing several important versions: the 20-sided die, the 100-sided die, the version that includes an any-drink-called-for-effect, the classic version where the cube is turned while the mentalist sits in a port-o-potty and concentrates, and the ultimate that involves the entire neighbourhood and takes 2 years to build after a spectator picks which number he/she wants on the top (see attached).
