Cool, just like the Paralabs Picture Card stack memorizing system. Will there be a Redford Stack version ?

It required a large investment of time, effort and money. I could not afford to use a large printing house like USPCC and found a local source to print 100 decks only. My intention, by selling these, is merely to recoup my expense while sharing this with others whom have struggled - like me - to reliably secure the proper association and recall of a MemDeck. It has never been my intention to TO PRINT ANY MORE THAN THIS SMALL QUANTITY. The only reason the Mnemonica Edition exists is as a response to the queries I received after sharing the Aronson Edition. Almost THREE TIMES as many people who expressed an interest in the deck asked about a Mnemonica version. I had experience and access to an awesome artist plus I recognized there are THREE CARDS in common between these MemStacks! Still, however, my only goal is to get these 100 decks in the hands of fellow magicians who will benefit from them. I have no experience with the Redford Stack but, since I have experience with this process of developing The Trainer Deck, I may go to a pre-order system (like Kickstarter). IT DEPENDS UPON THE AMOUNT OF INTEREST IN OTHER STACKS |

I am mostly a decent-at-best coin guy, but I did dive into Mnemonica, and honestly I memorized the deck easily enough in a few days. After about a week, I had it down pretty good and went on to play with several of the tricks. It is a great method, but if you don't play with this and practice the memorization of the deck, it will escape you for sure. How do I know, because it happened to me. But undaunted, many months later I went at it again and again got it all down in a fair amount of time. But alas, again it managed to escape me behind lack of usage and practice. At least I know that if I want to re-learn it, I can do it easy enough, but it's the lack of usage that is what really thwarts you. This new system seems like it might be helpful enough, and there are other systems that work pretty good too, but what I guess would be best is a system that once you got it down, would make it impossible for the most of us to ever forget it, like you never seem to forget your name or social security number. Now, that would be something.

There is no need to "count the dots" because you have learned to recognize the pattern. I would suggest that when that time comes to re-train yourself The Trainer Deck will ease the process and make it more permanent. |

I think this deck is a good idea, and hopefully will help some people.
But ironically, the person who it will surely help the most is its creator. The process of thinking of the designs, and then drawing them will burn them into your memory much more than just looking at them. We remember information best when we "interact" with it in some way. This is why Juan Tamariz recommends drawing on your cards. So people who buy this deck might find it helpful to spend time copying the pictures. |

I'd love to order this and more than happy to pay required shipping costs, however it seems the site only allows purchases within the US.
Is there any way I can buy a couple of these decks? I'm in the UK. Jamie

When Covid shut things down I had a lot of spare time so I learned to solve the Rubic's Cube, learn how do Magic Squares, and learn the Aronson stack.
I did all three the same way. Repetition. I carried what I needed with me and any time I was stuck waiting for something I used the time to go over the thing I was learning. I would also do one run-through before meals and before bed. Now I can do the magic square from memory. Solve the cube in about two minutes and I've learned the stack but I'm still working with my flashcards to get the associations to be instant. At age 60 I was worried that I couldn't accomplish these things so it's a real ego boost that I did. Don't set a time limit. Just make it part of your daily routine. |

I agree Mike - there is no subsitute for putting the work in. Drill, drll, drill. So many times I see questions on groups about improving recall and the answer is, as you say, repitition. Mike Close has some great work on drills to do and that's what helped me in particular.
I also have a couple of apps on my phone which are great at helping me keep sharp. |

Been using this for a few days, and must say I really like it. I previously purchased Rick Lax's mem deck tutorial. It was good, and he included a pdf, but that is not nearly as helpful as are the cards which Thom produced. I'm on Day 4, and have so far memorized twenty cards (about five each day). Of course some of the images are more easily memorized than others, but all in all, it's a great set. And of course, Mike is correct - repetition is the key. Like the Rubik Cube, which I solve at least once a week to keep it in my aged head, this is something that I will continue to work with on a regular basis.

Years ago, when I was introduced to the Aronson stack, I thought it was prob the most powerful thing a magician could have. I've also seen Simon lecture on it and perform with it. I worked to memorize it 5 cards at a time then 10 cards at a time. Then for repetition to drill it, while I was swimming at the gym. Every stroke a number and a card. Got pretty good with it. But haven't used it or practiced with it in the interim so my skills with it so now I need "refreshing" to put it lightly.
When I started learning it, I set up the stack with a normal deck. Then used a big magic marker to label each card on the back as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...52. Then I took that deck everywhere. Might not be as good as the newer trainer decks. But if you drill with it, it will work. Another idea is there are a bunch of trainer apps available for your phone. I'm more familiar with Android. But I believe there is an app just for Aronson. Then lastly, there is a wonderful older PC app called StackView. You might not be able to find it directly. But you might via the WayBack machine archive site. I was in contact with the developer a long time ago and I have a copy. But that app is primarily for playing with and exploring what you can do with a deck like start out with new deck order, do 3 inside faros, cut 5 cards off the top and what's the order they're in? If you don't do faros and ever wanted to prove to yourself the "8 faro shuffles starting with new deck order brings you back to new deck order" thing, you could easily with this app. But Stackview also had a very robust memdeck training side to it. Lots of different learning and testing capabilities with a number of included popular memdecks. To learn a real memdeck fully (not formulaic ones, obviously, like a Stebbins stack), you need to be able to not only run the deck top down and bottom up, but also given a random card, be able to tell the next card and the previous card, both the card itself (value + suit) and the index (number) position with a random mix of those as well. StackView drilled you on that really well. |

I would be interested in your deck, but it seems that it can't be purchased outside of the US 😞
