Dave is right. It has been discussed in length on the other thread. But the other thread seems to concentrate more on "All Time" favorite acts. I'm only interested in Dove Acts that are currently working today anywhere in the world. As with any field, there are those talented people that have yet to gain the notoriety within it's own industry. That's why I thought all of you could be the eyes and ears of who's out there. That's not to say that it precludes responding with acts like Amos L. and Greg F. I'm always involved with many projects and I wanted to get your input.
Thanks again, Glenn Farrington |

Rick Thomas rawks! So does Dimmare, he's the one that really got my attention and sparked my interest in getting into doves like ten years ago. Andy Amyx, Dan Birch, and Dave Vela are some guys who have really smooth dove acts with some really nice original things in them and have kind of been dove magic "undergrounds" in a way I guess. They're worth checking out!
Oh,I almost forgot one! ...PUCK! He's got some nice things too, I think he's worked a few conventions now but I first saw him about four-five years ago. -sperris

Greg Frewin is one of the top and most innovative ones working today. Jason Byrne (his former partner of the short lived double act of Double Vision) as some nice stuff also. Classic styling I would do with Lance Burton.
Several other guys have nice ideas but they do not all blend into an act as these performers do.

Yes, forgot about Tony. Certainly should be included. Like so many of the others I mentioned, he started with the dove act and progressed much further and greatlyl widened his scope and performance skills.

By far one of my favorites is James Cielen. His originality and style are unreal! I think he is amazing.

Anyone see any acts from any other countries? |

Un Goel Lee (sp?) from Korea, he's won lots of awards recently, although he may fall under more of a manipulation act than dove act. There is a guy from Taiwan (sp?), his name is slipping my mind right now, he's got an okay act. He's the one where his cell phone goes off in the middle of his act and you hear this squiky voice yelling at him from the other end and then he like has a flash and pulls a dove out of his cell phone. Sam Powers from Australia appears to have a smooth dove act, I couldn't see anything strikingly original, but he appeared to be an overall talented magician however. I'm not sure if you would call Jonathan David Bass from another country b/c he constantly works in Europe and other places like that, hardly ever in America. Shawn Farquhar, from Canada, at one time had a really nice dove act. He did a dove from newspaper that is one of the prettiest dove productions I've ever seen. I think he told me he quit doing it because of being on a cruise ship 10 months out of the year it can get to be a hassle. So there's a few...

I saw a magician comedian The Great Scott in Indianapolis Crackers. He came out and did 20 min funny stuff then at the end of the show did a fantastic dove act. The change from funny to doves was very effective.

Rafael from Belgium has a great dove show also. He has been one of the most apreciated magicians in the last Spanish Convention of Magic.
All the best magic, Pablo Tejero
