I haven’t got back to gigging yet, but for those of you who have, what’s it like? Do you use hand sanitizer between every routine?..every table or group? Are you working in a mask? What are people’s reactions to touching cards and coins etc. that have been touched by others, and also being touched by the magician. I do a coins across into spectators hand, I’m wondering if I might have to drop it. As I said, I haven’t been back out there yet, but I’d love to hear what it’s like from those who have.

It depends on where you are in the country.

I just wrapped up my usual summer time table hopping gig on the Jersey Shore. Other than a few customers wearing masks it was completely normal. I do not use sanitizer, no mask, and I do not adjust my routines. In-the-hands routines are fine. The volume of customers was down slightly but there were some nights that is was quite busy.
The majority of people are either vaccinated or have had covid already and are not concerned. The small minority that are left simply will not come to a crowed restaurant.

In my area, it is totally back to normal. I have been doing in the hands material and will sanitize my hands often. The venues all have stations for this.
But again, as mentioned, depends upon your area. |

My county in Southern California is pretty much back to normal. LA area is still masked up everywhere and not doing much restaurant entertainment. It depends on your location. I have been getting a ton of bookings for private events and not focused on restaurants right now. Just glad the inquires are back!

Back to normal here in Norway. But I do not longer do sponge bunnies or card to mouth.

I did not have any problem, at first I had psychosis ... fortunately for me, all the "pandemic" I was able to continue working in a bar that opened clandestinely, as it was the only open place, my clients were very good with tips, and with the alcohol they forgot about the bug.
Currently I continue working for them and for the restaurant where I originally worked, in the latter there were many rules at the beginning (mask, mask, gel at all times, go through the sanitizing tube), the good thing that people already seem to have forgotten that , although I continue to work with face masks and I get to bathe before walking around to my house. |

Restaurants here in the Pittsburgh area have limited operations.
Some are closed now on Mondays and others closed Monday and Tuesdays. Staffing is still a problem. Most restaurants have help wanted signs posted. I lost my 4 restaurants since March of 2020. I had a few private gigs but no where even close to pre Covid. I haven't been seeking work either because of the climate and attitudes are still a little sketchy. The gigs I did perform seemed to go really well. I just need to start promoting in ways I haven't in the past. The restaurant exposure provided allot of private shows, so no need for the extra effort.

Now is great time to work in a bottle production of hand sanitizer or use the Silk Printed surgical mask instead of vanishing a silk.
Instead of a Jumbo Coin I have been producing a small bottle of sanitizer and the reactions have been good.

I have found those who are out don’t want to be reminded of the situation.
