I currently do two effects in my stand-up show that use a jumbo deck of cards for easier viewing. I may add or substitute the ID effect. If I add it, I want to use jumbo cards so it won't raise suspicion about the deck used. I've seen the jumbo version advertised, but it always says "sleight of hand skill required".
So my question for anyone that has the jumbo version and uses it, can you tell me if the effect from the spectator's point of view is the same? How difficult is it to perform? Do you recommend it? Thanks, Bob

It's the same trick. It's the same method. It's just a little more difficult to handle because of the size of the cards. I would recommend when you do it that you hold the cards vertical in front of your chest, so that the faces of the cards are towards the audience, then as you spread them, allow one card to show up reversed.
It will take some getting used to, but will be worth it.

I have used it & do it as Bill mentions above.
I think Cody Fisher has a routine using this. Charlie |

I use the jumbo in conjunction with a jumbo (matching of course)vanishing deck, the really nice wooden type, I'm not real sure you can still get them though. Any way, I show a jumbo deck then vanish it (turn it invisble) and go on with the usual routine. just something to think about.

Jody Baran uses it in his act. It doesn't look difficult to handle though. All the trick really requires is spreading the cards.

I got it and have used it. No real problems. I just wish I could do a better jumbo fan without seperating the cards.

El Duco makes an invisible deck out of the "Anglo" cards he advertises. They are larger than Poker size cards, but smaller than a standard jumbo deck. I find the size to be just right and have used it for audiences of up to 300.

I also have played with a jumbo invisible deck, but always found it big to carry in the jacket. I just obtained a drawer box that is made for the jumbo invisible deck. This way I could show it empty, do the regular patter and then open the drawer and remove a deck that fills the drawer and reveal the card.
I do not know if these are still available or not, but have been told that they were made by martini, so yo, marty, if you out there, let us know. S. |

I used to use the smaller one and then I tried the same bit with the jumbos. One comment went something like this, "There's no way that he used sleight of hand dude because he couldn't possibly palm the big card without us seeing it?".
I never went back to the smaller one after hearing that layman's comment. I find them easier to handle because the large size fan hides my fingers underneath the deck as I shift the necessary card out into the reveal. |
