Hello,
my thread about Amateur Mistery Entertainer Resources has been moved from "Penny for your thoughts" to "Inner thoughts" sub-forum. Aside from the fact that the latter has less traffic and visibility, I think I didn't break any rules, in fact there is no "discussion that may involve the secrets and methods" in that thread... I would really appreciate if any mods can help me understand what was wrong and avoid future mistakes. |

Part of the difference in the mentalism areas is protecting their methods from prying eyes. Beyond specifically discussing methods that includes not publicly creating long lists for prying eyes to come and have a laundry list of things to google. Such discussions should as much as possible be conducted in the more private areas where, after all, better answers will be contributed.
In fact, that should be considered for all matters of mentalism discussion. |

Adding this to the rules would be difficult as there are many scenarios. List are ok as long as they aren't specific such as names of books or DVD's. If we created a rule about this, we would have to make it apply to every forum, and not just the mentalist ones. It really just comes down to common sense.

Actually it wouldn't take much to specify something like "in the mentalism sections lists of books, DVD's or similar material should be reserved to the private forum".

The intent is to keep such references out of the eyes of laymen. Therefore, if we restricted list in Penny, we would also have to restrict their use in every other forum whether, mentalism, magic. While we try to be a little more protective in the mentalism area, the rule would have to apply to everything. Most members do not read the rules and it doesn't happen very often so it's better to just handle the situation as it occurs.
