Hi, I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask as I’m new to the forum… I’m looking to buy a Copentro, can anyone point me in the right direction? I notice MagicTao seem to have them in stock but the websales isn’t working and they don’t answer the phone!

Check out Quicker Than the Eye and Magic Collectibles websites. I've seen versions of Copentro show up on those sites -
https://www.quickerthantheeye.com/ https://www.magiccollectibles.com/ Other than that get on a search engine and look for Copentro, you might run across a dealer who has it in stock. I did a quick search and turned up one available Copentro from Winkler's Magic Warehouse: https://www.winklersmagicwarehouse.com/p......opentro/ (that's available as of today, Nov. 12, 2021. The availability status can change at any time , of course) . |

I don't know if this makes any difference to your search, but this (Bob Kline?) apparatus was spelled Copenetro.

The separate book of routines from Bob Kline spelled it "Copenetro", but I must confess I've always referred to it as Copentro", too.

Mickerick, I'm not sure if you are looking for any version of this prop as the plot has seen many iterations (coins traveling invisibly to a covered glass), but if you specifically want a Copenetro I would definitely try to attain an original Bob Kline model. That version is simply better than the later versions. Andy Martin explains a little here: https://www.martinsmagic.com/allmagic/mo......ob-kline
I first bought a more modern version around 2005 and the firing mechanism was fussy and caused several "misfires." I was told it was a remake, and the black felt on top of the base was one of the indications. Since then I've purchased an original as shown in Andy Martin's post and it does in fact work more smoothly and more predictably. Hold out for an original if you can.

I believe that the one Wizard of Oz is referring to from 2005 was the one that Hank Lee had someone make for him.
At first, he offered it in walnut as a deluxe version and a standard version but cannot remember what wood was used for that one. The walnut one became no longer available and then none at all. They were available for several years and yes, they did have issues. I believe that the retail price was $125 to $150 for the standard version. Please allow me to add that even if you find an original Bob Kline one, it really needs to be thoroughly tested. A combination of wear and tear and years of aging can cause it to not be as dependable as it was when young and vibrant. Kind of like some of us here on the Café. |

Thank you, great advice as always. Sadly they seem hard to find so I’ll have to see how patient I can be! 😎

How about Dave Powell Magic. I have his Victorian Coins to Glass and it is gorgeous. I have only used it on a limited basis but it never failed to perform. Best of luck in your search.

Can't go wrong with Mr. Powell's magic. Quality all the way.

My advice is do not attempt to buy anything from Magictao. There are so many people who have reported making purchases and never receiving their items that it can be regarded as a scam operation.
As you noted, their website doesn't work properly and the phone isn't answered. The phone numbers used to be fake in that one was for a taxi company and the other got you the 'number not in use' tone. They don't respond to emails either. I learned all this the hard way but got my money back from them through issuing a Paypal dispute.

There's what appears to be a non-Kline version on the Big Auction now...
