So who likes cats better, and who likes dogs? If you don't like either, that what do you like?
I can't really decide, but I grew up with dogs.......what about you?

Only dogs for me...I personally hate cats (and I don't use that word lightly). They just aren't good pets, at least in my opinion. They are too independent, and the whole reason you get a pet is for companionship. Some people like their independent nature though, to each his/her own. My dog Max is my best bud, he's awesome.

I love owning aquariums. There is something about the underwater world that fascinates me. Plus I believe they are the easiest things to maintain. I loved having a dog but you always had to take them outside.

Dogs, I have two of them. I'm allergic to cats anyway.

I'm allergic to both, so I choose Iguanas.

Gotta be Dogs. I am very much liking the Dogue De Bordeaux and also the Shar Pei.

I don't really understand it either Mike, but that seems to be how most people operate, myself included. For some reason, I just have never liked cats, but I love dogs. I know a lot of others with a similar one-sided sentiment, either pro-cats and anti-dogs, or vice versa. I guess it just depends on your idea of "lovable."

chajodawg,
Look at that little guy in the pic. He's friendly, affectionate, and always tries to cheer me up when I'm feeling down. Far from being overly independent, he greets me at the door like a puppy when I come home from work each day and acts as thrilled to see me as the day we first met. He's always playful (even fetches) and fun, never aloof and distant. Would that I could say the same about myself. If I were to formulate an idea of "lovable," it would certainly have to include a cat like Felix. --Mike |

Hey, I agree with you Mike. I am in no way trying to convert people to my point of view. I am glad that you have a pet that gives you companionship. Even still, for me, dogs win out. I have been around many cats, and they just don't inspire the same feeling in me as dogs. Who knows, if I met your cat, he might convert me . Anyway, I guess it is just a psychological thing. Some people like one or the other, and some people, such as you, like both. I guess all us pet owners will just have to agree to disagree (ouch what a cliche lol).

I love both equally and have 3 dogs and 4 cats.
I think most people that have never owned a cat don't realize how affectionate they are and equate loyalty with only dogs. Cats greet their two legged friends at the door, give hugs or kisses , and some play fetch. When I take my dogs for a walk one of my cats often walks with us to the end of the block which causes many people to chuckle. Here's this beautiful grey cat leading two large dogs ..a funny sight! Mike, they say a pic is worth a thousand words - Felix looks incredibly wise. He seems like a wonderful pal. C |

Firedice,
While I've always listened up to your wise words of wisdom..I disagree with you this time..cats and dogs both rule! Besides didn't I see your soul up for auction at ebay once? :O) |

Chrystal,
Felix is indeed a wonderful pal. I can't imagine life without him, though I sometimes question his wisdom. You mentioned one of your cats leading two large dogs on a walk, but you have three dogs. Is the third one walked separately? I envy you and anyone else who is able to have so many animal companions. I live in a small apartment in a big city, and it's my dream to someday be able to live somewhere rural where I can rescue any strays that come my way. --Mike |

Yup, I bought it and have it in a jar on my mantle piece. It was cheap and no-one else wanted it. I'm slightly torn on the cat/dog issue. I always preferred dogs until I met my wife's cat who (as some of you know) I really loved. Here's a summary of how I feel about them both - pros and cons: Dogs - Pros: 1. Mostly friendly. 2. A dog that hasn't met you that has a ball in its mouth will treat you as if you've been friends for years and really must play a game of fetch. 3. They're quite funny a lot of the time (more funny than ducks, less funny than monkeys) Dogs - Cons: 1. Require proper attention (need to treat them like a human) 2. Some can be a bit mucky. 3. They can knock the wind out of you if you don't watch your back. Cats - Pros: 1. They look after themselves. 2. Affectionate cats are hard to come by so when you find one it's wonderful. 3. They clean up after themselves. Cats - Cons: 1. Most couldn't care less about you. 2. They rip your new sofa and chairs to shreds just for the hell of it. 3. If they're hungry, they don't mind ripping out your retinas to let you know. On balance, dogs win but the right cat has the occasional ace to play. Beetroot |
