Over the years I have amassed double facers that I am yet to know what to do with.
In the standard pack we all perhaps know how to use the truly useful combinations and therein lie some pretty strong effects.
But what of the those picture cards which are the same both sides?
I am still nonplussed as to know what to do with them.
Is there an effect which utilises these curious cards?

Can anyone suggest anything at all that results in astonishment.

There is a booklet called Same Both Sides by Lloyd Jones which is dedicated to these cards. You'll get it from trickshop.com for a few dollars.
Hope this helps.

As suggested above, "Same on Both Sides" is a great resource. Years ago, I created a simple trick using the SBSs from a standard deck of double-facers. Read it here (3min read):

I like your thinking federico ~ its a fun routine~ thank you for sharing.
I've downloaded a pdf of the SBS booklet that Chris suggested~ slowly working through that to see what ideas it contains.
I'll report back on anything that hits the button.
So far, I still reckon SBS cards are a difficult gaff to do great magic with.
I hope to discover an effect or an idea that proves me wrong.

I have worked my way through the SBS booklet ~ an enjoyable read, well worth the price ~ with some interesting ideas.
Most are stand alone effects that cannot easily be routined into sequences.
It wasn't bad by any means. Many of the effects require double-backers, in addition to SBS cards.
I doubt I would use anything I discovered. I'm not one for gaffs in the main.
The effects that stood out for me were:
Mental miracle~ Chinese mind-reading ~ You can't do as I do.
others would see potential elsewhere no doubt.
I liked the idea of an impromptu mirror glass using an SBS.

In conclusion, not sure SBS cards are that good really.
My favourite use remains the topographical illusion 'Hypercard'.

Anyone with more leads worth investigating?

Boris Wild has a nice effect called SHOW OFF. It's similar in concept to Ambitious Card, except in this case the "show off" card keeps turning face up in the deck rather than jumping to the top of the deck. It's very cleverly structured so there are moments when the spectator can handle (and inspect) the card.

Anniversary Waltz is not the same side on both side, right?

CORRECT - the spectators apparently sign TWO different cards, which then fuse together. NOT two duplicate cards!

As I recall, 202 Ways of Forcing by Annemann has a few uses for double backers in it.

Cameron Francis on his 2008 dvd set "the omega mutation" had a trick called cagey that used a sbs card in a very interesting way.
