Tony,
The reason I use a 3x5 index card is more or less just a personal preference. I'm sure this works just fine with business cards, but to my mind, there is no real reason to have the business card folded if I'm going to simply put it into a coin envelope. Again it all privy to the presentation I use. That is because business cards fit into standard coin envelope perfectly. Certainly one can easily stamp out many of the spectators questions with many of the subtleties provided by Richard, but to me if I'm going to use a business card, why am I not just letting the spectator put the card themselves into the coin envelope? Why do I need to even bother touching it? Again it’s mearly a presentational issue. I don’t like to use (or imply ) the concept of clairvoyance by touching items a part of my act. So that’s why I simply lean towards the use of the index card and coin envelope. It gives me all the reason to fold the index card, touch it and finally put it into the envelope. I by no means point out and try and outline any type of justification to my spectators; but I do want to snuff out as many ideas on how I do it (i.e. the cancellation effect ); helping create the effect become more impossible. I want people to think that I do not have to touch the billet although I do. -Brandon
