Effectively Pegasus nothing is installed on the spectator's phone.
You are ready all the time and instantly! No connection is needed, both phones can be in airplane mode

In the absence of a Bluetooth device are you reliant on time delay, or can you also trigger effects by touching the screen?

There are several possible triggers.
Including the fact of touching the screen.
And each trigger can be subject to a delay or not according to your wish

Looks good, but what do you do when a spectator pullls up their own calculator and figures out the secret to vanishing the numbers? Obviously that’s all they can do, but is there anything to prevent that?

No. I’d like to know what the new features are.

I just updated the app and it says that the new features are detailed in the Facebook group. My membership in the group is pending and so I'll have to wait until I am accepted.

I've been accepted but unfortunately the video with the new features is all in French and I don't speak French. Apparently it involves some ergonomic changes in the app, a new way to trigger each effect, and the final phase can now be done without a remote. I'll have to wait for a translation.
