I’ve read numerous posts from folks saying they can make 14 sets of Dutch Loopers out of one deck. I can’t wrap my head around the math. If you use all the face cards for the gaffs that’s only 12 sets. Where do the other two sets come from? The jokers? Ken Brooks doesn’t mention any of this in “The Unique Years”. Perhaps some grifters can shed some light. Cheers!

You could use the jokers for gaffs giving you 14 sets. Also, if you were careful cutting the court cards in half for the gaffs, that would gives you 24 gaffs.

That’s exactly what I thought to Cigmas. I don’t like the idea of using jokers especially from a Bicycle deck since they really wouldn’t be a good “money” card during the routine. Heck, include the Aces and you potentially have 8 more sets!

It’s just intriguing to me why 14 sets just kept coming up in past posts.
