At Ring 45 here in South Florida we recently had a big discussion on cyclical stacks.

I threw out that I like the Osterlind BCS since I've used it for so long. Si Stebbins was the first one I learned and I still use it as well.

Quite a few members still use Stebbins here at the club, and someone mentioned the alternating color thing.

I've been a member of Ring 45 for ages and I was surprised that most hadn't heard of SIde Stebbin' where the alternating color issue has been solved and nearly every possible effect ever published with the stack is still doable.

So if you like Stebbins but don't care for the alternating colors, click the link in my signature and look for SIde Stebbin'. I put this out over 20 years ago! And a few years back I updated the manuscript to include Mental Stebbin' my pet routine with the stack, essentially a Predictive Physiological Anticipation demonstration.

It's certainly of interest that even Si Stebbins himself (William Henry Coffrin, aka William Vino) did not use what he published as the "Si Stebbins Stack", which he felt did not look sufficiently random. That certainly hasn't stopped generations of magicians from doing so, though!

That's true. What conclusion can be drawn from this fact?

If you're interested in learning what's really possible with the "Stebbins" stack, I have good news. As luck would have it, I have decided to make my Super-Charged Stebbins notes available to anyone interested in furthering their understanding of (and aptitude with) this incredible system. They are currently on sale at my new website... https://themystictower.com/shop/ols/prod......stebbins
While purchasers won't receive the benefit of face-to-face instruction and full performances offered during my online class, there is still enough depth to the explanations to ensure vastly improved performances. Brand-new routines, previously unpublished material, and innumerable nuanced techniques. As always, anything you purchase from me comes with my 100% satisfaction guarantee or I'll gladly refund your purchase price. In this case, these notes are so comprehensive, I know you'll be thrilled with what you learn!

I like to perform a stack preserving trick (say Mentalist Plus by Woody Aragon), then follow up with Juan Tamariz’ Neither Blind Nor Stupid which sorts the deck just right for a version of Paul Curry’s Out of This World.

I learned about sequencing the last two in Roberto Giobbi’s Card College Light.

I did Dan's Penguin School on Si Stebbins and it's excellent. If you're at all interested in working with the stack and learning some fantastic routines then snap up his ebook. Highly recommended.
