The main benefit of this particular system is that only two consecutive cards need to be picked (instead of four, five or six cards as in other systems) and they can be easily read from 20 ft away and you can use your favorite stack!

Instead of a quad-based debruin based on suits use an octo deBruijn with only two consecutive cards selected from a 52 card deck.

With the below octo-based wrapping deBruijn each card will have three binary bits to express a value of 0 through 7 ie: 111 means seven, 110 means 6, 101 means five ... 000 means zero.

Therefore I propose using a bicycle rider back deck and your favorite stack and apply the below octo-based numbers to mark the back of each card in your stack.

Below is the 2 card octo-based wrapping deBruijn I have created:

0011223344556677
20304050607
1314151617
32124252627
4657

The above is the octo-based debruin to apply to your stack.

Looking at the top half of a rider back card you will see three bright objects:

1. the cherub in the upper right corner (binary ones position)

2. the rider angel in the middle on the bicycle (binary twos position)

3. the cherub in the upper left corner (binary fours position)

Therefore using my water-based pen dulling technique these three objects can be made to represent a one or a zero (dulled object is a binary "0" whereas a bright object is a binary "1"):

If you dull the two cherubs and the rider angel then the card appears as 000 which means decimal zero.

If you dull the upper left cherub and the rider angel then the card appears as 001 which means decimal one.

If you dull the two cherubs and leave the rider angel alone then the card will appear as 010 which is decimal two.

If you dull only the upper left cherub then the card will appear as 011 which is decimal three.

If you dull the upper right cherub and the rider angel then the card appears as 100 which means decimal four.

if you dull only the rider angel then the card will appear as 101 which of course means decimal five.

If you dull only the upper right cherub then the card appears as 110 which means decimal six.

If you don't dull any of the three objects then the card appears as 111 which means decimal seven.

Of course you rotate the card and do the same dulling again so that what was on the bottom half of a card looks the same as what was the top half of that card (so each card will have its same markings regardless of its orientation). Of course you can dull the bottom half of each card at the same time you're dulling the top half.

Note that the first two cards of your stack will each be coded as 000 (all three objects dulled).
The third and fourth card of your stack will each be coded as 001 (the left cherub dulled and the rider angel dulled).
...
the 49th card of your stack will be coded as 100.
the 50th card of your stack will be coded as 110.
the 51st card of your stack will be coded as 101.
The 52nd card of your stack will be coded as 111.

I will develop a sorted generic cheat sheet that you can use on your marked stack deck.

After the spectator(s) hold the cards near their forehead with backs of the cards toward you then you the magician mentally convert the two binary coded cards to 2 decimal digits. This is very easy.

For example let's say the first card has 101 and the second card has 111 then you say to yourself "five seven" then you look down on your sorted cheat sheet for 57 and then look just to the right of that number and see the position of the first card selected which in this case is 51. Therefore since you have your stack memorized you know what the two cards are (position 51 and position 52).

You could have a sorted cheat sheet that lists both cards to the right therefore you don't need to have the stack memorized. But you do need to have the stack itself listed somewhere so that before your performance you can make sure your marked deck is in the proper order.

Dulling technique:
apply a very slight moisture to the cherub and/or rider angel and then use a cheap water-based pen (use black ink for blue back cards and red ink for red back cards) to put a very small amount of ink on the object and quickly blott it with a tissue or your finger so that there is no dark blots. You should not see any pen marks but rather the object should just appear slightly dull and not bright. I have had good success with just smearing the object slightly with my finger.

Oops, above I see 12 in two places, let's see if I can fix that by making some changes in the last three lines:

0011223344556677
20304050607
1314151617
32764252624
3657

I think the above is perfect IE no duplicate two numbers.

Here is the sorted generic cheat sheet for your stack. How to use this cheat sheet: after a spectator cuts the deck a few times and then deals two consecutive cards and then holds those two cards near their forehead (back of cards toward you), you then mentally translate the first of those two cards binary code into decimal and then do the same for the second card.

Let's say the translation for the first card is "1" and the translation for the second card is "3" then you look at the cheat sheet below and find "13" and see that the first card is your memorized card 28 and of course the other card will be your memorized 29 card.

I marked up an Aronson deck using my dulling technique (took less than 2 hours) and then ran several experiments and it was easy as pie using the cheat sheet.

Note: because of my "oops" correction the 49th card will not be coded as binary "100" Instead it will be coated as binary "011".

That's "coded" not "coated".
