Do you use Hat coils and if so how do you use them?

I use Mouth Coils in every show and am thinking about adding a Hat Coil Production.
Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.

Get Jeff McBride on stage series.
There are great uses for hat and mouth coils.

Mark Mitten produces them on stage and they totally bury him. Jerry Conklin used to spin them out of a hat ( the traditional method) and then produce a rabbit from them.

Mouth coils and Hat Coils are two totally different animals. As I understand, the hat coils were the old ticker tape ribbon from the old telegraph and stock market tapes.

I think Abbott's is about the only place you can still get them.

Actually coils are available at a number of good dealers and I love the silly things. I wish they were cheaper but they do get the response!
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

One of the best features about hat coils, besides being relatively unique because so few use them, is that they have the impact of a gigantic "overflowing" production, but unlike confetti, snow, butterflies and the like, the paper hat coil is easy and fast to clean up and doesn't leave any residue.

One word...Walmart. In the sewing department they sell a thick yellow ribbon. Its a huge spool for about $4. I take about 200-250 ft of this and coil it to fit the wall of my Top hat. I don't need to clip it in there as you will see:

I produce a single card with my right hand. pick up the hat off the table. And drop the card into the hat (actually backpalming it). I continue and produce it again. Act as if its going into the hat, really backpalming it again. I work this in about another 5 times. then I wave my hand over the hat, reach inside the hat to hold the ribbon snug to the wall of the hat, and pull the ribbon out as I turn the hat upside down. The ribbon keeps on flowing, nice and big for all to see, and just covers the whole stage with ribbon because of its mass size. They expected to see cards fall out, but instead this massive ribbon. Best of all the ribbon can be used again and again and is very hard to tear.... Hope this helps...
