..and now we know why the torch disappeared from sight for a moment during this demo. Glad I held off buying the best trick of the decade.

You’re not a expert on how UV lights work and it’s probably how all UV lights are lol. I would said they started putting in the two lights for extra power for killing germs. But I can promise you this. I know for a fact I would never be in a situation where this would even be talked about. I just wouldn’t let it go there. |

I think it is fairly obvious how this effect is done but the fades make it look pretty sweet and it is a brilliant and original idea. Without even purchasing you can tell the thought behind this and the mechanics are excellent. However, calling it the greatest trick ever is just hyperbole and inviting trouble. It also seems to be distracting from the effect itself.

This is even noticeable in a part of the tutorial, which I find odd, especially since the performance videos seem to be with perfectly aligning (and identically-coloured) lights / bulbs. If there's any more than 1-2 centimetres or so of discrepancy between the two lights (in non-defective units), I don't know how practical this is. Have contacted my dealer to see what can be done – haven't yet decided if I want a replacement or just a refund. It's a shame, because I do really like the effects and possibilities, but just cannot confidently go out and perform this the way it is. |

So I actually think it's clever. I think there are some strong things that this can be a part of. Having said that, mine too, seems a little farther apart than I'd care for. Having said THAT, I haven't used it yet and there will be a discrepancy, as that is obviously just how it works (and also is covered in the tutorial). It shouldn't be an issue unless mine is more than it should be.
My pen also came bone dry, oddly enough. Tried to get it to flow, but seems a fluke. Anyhow, waiting to see what others report back with bulb/light distances to know if I'm overthinking it. All else considered, this should be good, and I have hopes it will be. |

I just got my LUX. My first one. Yes I bought two. Always buy two of some thing you think you’re gonna like. I just want to say one thing though. For those of you who are still on the fence. I’m going tell you something right now. Lux is incredible at just it’s very basic application. I tried this on my roommate. Who by the way sees a ton of magic and she said it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever shown her. I asked her why. Her words not mine. ”It was magical”. I intentionally didn’t say much. I didn’t put on a performance. I just wanted to see the reaction in the rawest form. By the way I did the X traveling back-and-forth. There’s just some thing that video doesn’t give justice to. When the X is appearing and disappearing. It feels like that should not be happening lol. It felt like real magic for me knowing how it works even.
Also I had to ask her if she thought it was weird that I’m now carrying around a UV light. She looked at me and said you’re weird. Lol. Anyway get the thing. I think it’s pretty simple. If you love magic. You can easily find a way to put this into your every day routines. Make up new ones. Be creative. Make people feel like magic is real. Also you get to do it in a James Bond type of way. Who doesn’t like that. That’s literally the best review I can give it. I base my reviews off of the reactions I get. It doesn’t hurt that Lloyd really did a great job implementing all the settings. Everything is easy simple. I have no worry in the world with a spectator holding this. That’s all. Craig Petty said this is the greatest trick of the decade and probably the greatest trick of all time. I agree. For a few reasons. Considering what you get it’s super cheap. Everything works the way it supposed to. You can literally carry it around with you when you pick up your keys to go to the store. Remember you don’t have to have a pen on you for a lot of effects. Although I am trying to find a keychain UV pen. Just for easier travel. The number one reason is it sparks creativity. That’s why I think this piece of magic will be so much more than is now, later down the road. We will see so many great effects come from this. Who can hate on that?! Who? Why? That I’ll never understand. I feel super strong about what I just experienced with LUX. |

Genuinely happy for you. There will be many that feel similar to you on LUX and there will be those that don’t. I decided to order mine to see what the greatest trick of all time looks like. A friend of mine also has his in hand and I’ve gotten to see exactly what it is it can do. Of course, with very limited time available. But from what I can see, it is NOT the greatest of all time. Imo. Although I can see where this will create some pretty impressive moments for those that use it. As with a lot of available pieces of magic, it will be up the performer to have those type of moments DeckHead experienced. I’m not in any way saying that this isn’t a good effect. Nor am I trying to negate what others say/think of it. I’m giving my Personal opinion on an electronic ( which I have tons and tons of ) that can do some very visual things. I’m sure I’m not gonna waste 75$ and let it sit in the magic drawer. Im also sure that it will get great reactions. But, just like with any great magic, there’s always a compromise. And I now know why a certain question wasn’t answered when asked multiple times. None the less, LUX feels pretty fun to play with and it’ll get some mileage out of it. But I cannot agree with Craig or DeckHead on this being the GOAT of all magic effects available. I’d also like to acknowledge the amount of work that had to go into this little device in order for it to achieve what it does. A very cleverly built utility.
Well that’s all I got for now so until I get mine and play with a bit more I really can’t say if this is or isn’t a recommendation. I’ll be back when I’ve had some proper time to put it to use in a real world situation. P.S. Let me point out that my opinion is subject to change at any point in the near or late future. |

Imagine someone telling you The Goonies or Back to the Future 2 sucks and they never even watched it. Lol. Or on the hand those people who wear the Nirvana shirts but never even heard a Nirvana song lol. Literally the definition of crazy. Here’s the thing with me. I get excited when it comes to magic. Last month shrapnel was the greatest trick of all time. A few months ago it was ACE. It changes. I can admit that. Haha. Maybe that the definition of crazy. Who knows. Love magic. Love sharing it. Love buying it. Love making it. |

On a serious note, how can anyone not like The Goonies? or Marty? But seriously, I’m absolutely positive there will be some clever ideas to apply to LUX. I had suspected that there would need to be some audience management when allowing them to handle the gimmick. But then again, isn’t audience management always a factor in almost all magic. One of my all time favorite, yet Simple magic quotes. “Don't run if you’re not being chased.” I feel like that will apply with LUX when determining how freely you allow your spectators to handle the gimmick. |

Question: I ordered Lux from Vanishing Inc about 5–10 min when the trailer was released
It still says Processing Anyone in the same boat as me? I haven’t even been able to view instructions since nothing shows up that says Lux on the downloads Thanks Alex

As for Craig and getting to know him more personally these last couple months that’s not something he would do. As for others I can’t say either way. The best thing with Craig is he is definitely not doing it to help his friend Lloyd. He trashed one or Lloyd’s recent projects without hesitation. Simply because it just was not good. I try not to take any or this too seriously. It’s just magic. We are all nerds, big kids. Lol |

Can I ask please if there are any working magicians who have used this yet? I’d be interested to get their feedback - as this has been deemed the best trick ever, then I would expect awesome audience reactions of course.
