100% natural beeswax can be found in stores.
There is also the blue putty used for hanging pictures, I can't remember the name, some type of Loctite product I think. That stuff is found with hooks and other things used for hanging in the hardware section.
Like Julie said though, double sided tape is great stuff and is also my first choice.

I'm in the UK, and find blu-tac works well. I'm not sure what the US equivalent is. It's also available in white (and perhaps other colours - I'm sure I seen pink at one time).
It should be available from most stationers.

Gorilla Glue makes an adhesive putty as well. It's an off-white color. That's what I've been using, but I think they're all approximately the same strength.
