Okay, I'm a bit...I don't know what I am. Perhaps, we'll just call it confused...
In the book "The Man With the $100,000 Breasts" by Michael Konik (A very interesting book on gambling stories), he refers to a false shuffle as the "zero shuffle" and describes it as a the perfect false shuffle to fool the "eye in the sky" cameras. Upon reading his basic description, it sounds exactly like the Zarrow and I had a giggle telling my wife about his minor faux pau... Then, in "Loaded Dice," James Swain's new novel (which, like his others, ROCKS!) he also mentions the "zero shuffle" with a smiliar description. Now, I'm certain that Swain knows the correct name if, in fact, they are describing the Zarrow. Perhaps he was just using the "zero" name to keep interested readers away from our secrets.. Or...am I missing something? Is there a "zero" shuffle? My head hurts...I'm going to bed. E

There is already a discussion about it H e r e
not very enlightening though. And another thing:years ago here in Greece,i saw a cheater used a shuffle he called it "zero Shuffle".Being a magician already and quite familiar with everything in "Expert Card technique" book, that shuffle it was exactly the same as Hugard and Braue describe it in their book. You can find it on pages 70-71 of the Dover edition. Not convincing at all for my eyes, although that guy claimed that he had fooled people around by using it. Hope it helps Vasilis |

Ok I have the definitive answer!
The Zero shuffle is not the Zarrow shuffle. I e-mailed James Swain and this is what he said! "Dear Mark, The "zero shuffle" is also known as the "sky shuffle", and is nothing like the Zarrow (although the names are intriguingly the same). The shuffle is nothing more than seperating the deck into two halves, placing one half above the other, and running up the halves with the thumbs, simulating the action of a shuffle. From the front, the shuffle looks horrible; where it works is deceiving the eye-in-the-sky, which stares straight down from above. Hope this helps. Best, Jim Swain"
