Thank you so much for this comprehensive treatise on color changing knives Doug. I've been eying David Regal's knives, then read your description of the TCC knives. I, too have small hands and I am now considering these instead. Thank you for continued updating.

Kurtis, I just put together this quick page with a comparison with a Regal and TCC knife next to each other so you can see a more direct comparison.

The Regal knife is a bit longer, much wider, and heavier. Because of the thickness, you have to be careful with David's knives not to allow them to rotate too far.
The Regal set comes with stag, which helps identify the rough side vs. smooth, and is also a 4 knife set.

The TCC knife has a little more real-estate on the handle, as the bolsters are smaller. It definitely feels more lightweight. It manipulates well.
The TCC set is only a three knife set.

Which is better? I certainly think it comes down to personal preference.

Thank you for taking the time to post the comparison photos. It definitely helps. While I love the looks, the tactile feature and the fact that it comes with that 4th "swiss army" knife in Regal's set, I will probably go with TCC knives for handling purposes. As stated earlier, my hands are small and a 3in knife will jut out with with any sort of push thru change, cigarette vanish, etc. The slightly shorter TCC will suit me better. I currently have Gary Frank's set, which handles really well in terms of the "move"...I just wanted to bump it up a bit. Needless to say, I will also be missing out on Regal's teachings...sigh. We just want it all, don't we? Thank you for your generous time Doug.

Kurtis, my bad! I don't know where my brain was. Those aren't the David Regal knives on that page, but rather the Rodger Lovins' knives! I'll update the page today with the appropriate pictures so you can make a true comparison. So sorry about that.

This is an excellent resource.

I went with the TCC knives. A better fit for me (length-wise), and a bit more narrow making it easier to effect the move. Probably my only criticism (like yours) is the colors. You are right...not enough contrast. Thanks again Doug.

I have been using a $10 Empire set for years now. Get's great reactions when using Bill Malone's routine. But I can understand that these newer sets are probable much easier to do the moves with.
