Hi there, is there anything that gives ok to great results to polish coins (typically halves) quickly backstage? Would like to make sure my final miser dreams loads really catch the light. They get dulled pretty quickly in the holders etc.
I shine them up with Brasso at home, but it’s messy, smells awful and rough on the hands so no good to travel with. I’ve used bicarbonate of soda too, but maybe not ideal for this, unless a cloth soaked in water and bicarbonate would do enough? Thanks! |

What are your coins made of?

If your coins are real silver (as opposed to clad coins), rubbing them with plain toothpaste is a popular quick fix to restore shine.

I've used Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish on both my silver and clad half dollars to great results. https://www.amazon.com/Mothers-05101-Mag......EJM?th=1

For real silver, Wrights silver cream/polish.
For most everything else, Nevr-Dull is great but does have kind of a gasoline like smell. That aside the cotton wadding is less abrasive than Brasso. Rub with the wadding, finish off/buff with a microfiber cloth and you're set. |

They also make silver polishing cloths, easy to travel with.

I've used flitz metal polish for years and if it's a quick touch up on silve, I'll pull out a jewelry polish cloth. Both can be picked up on Amazon.

If the coins are not that valuable, 0000 steel wool will get them shiny quickly and not leave a residue. That was a tip I got from Mickey Silver about 20 years ago.
